Chapter 28

Heesu opened her eyes on a bed. Even after opening her eyes, her mind didn’t clear quickly, so she stared blankly at the ceiling in a dazed state until her vision gradually became clear. Judging by the pink ceiling instead of gray, it seemed to be the house she had come to live in after becoming a magical girl, not her studio apartment.
When she turned her head, sure enough, Izzen was looking at Heesu.
“Are you awake?”
“……Izzen…… how did I…….”
“This one carried you here.”
Izzen pointed somewhere, but it wasn’t visible from Heesu’s field of vision. Heesu frowned and forced her heavy body to sit up.
Then she could see someone kneeling below the bed with their face pressed to the floor. It was a man with gray hair reaching past his shoulders and a muscular build. That somewhat familiar appearance made Heesu frown.
“Don’t tell me…… that’s the werewolf?”
“Yes. His name is Rufus…….”
“Why is he doing that?”
“He’s asking for your forgiveness, Miss Heesu.”
“Why?”
“He probably wants to receive forgiveness and stay by your side, Miss Heesu.”
“By my side?”
“Yes. You are his master, Miss Heesu. As you know, wanting to stay by their master’s side is the instinct of all demons……”
“Master…… by my side…….”
Heesu blankly muttered what Izzen had said, then remembered something he had told her before. Expressions of affection like dogs or cats nuzzling against their owners—just how far did the range of affection expression he spoke of extend? As if answering that question, she vividly recalled the memory from just before fainting. The terror she had felt then came back intact.
Heesu gulped. This time she had really almost gone all the way. If Izzen hadn’t stopped it just then, she didn’t know what really would have happened. She had tried to attack by swinging her magic wand too, but she didn’t know if that would have worked.
Just thinking about what would have happened if her attack hadn’t worked even if she had attacked, and if Izzen hadn’t been able to stop it either, was terrifying.
It was clearly different from before. That werewolf was truly a dangerous being. Unlike Violen during the tentacle incident, who could control his desires to some extent, it wasn’t something that was weak and small like Button the slime or the caterpillar that Heesu could subdue. It was a being that even Izzen, an adult man, could only handle by knocking it unconscious.
To keep such a being by her side. To live under the same roof—how could that make any sense?
“I don’t want to.”
Having thought that far, Heesu firmly spat out her answer. She didn’t want to. This time she really didn’t want to.
“But Miss Heesu, don’t you know? Demons die if abandoned by their masters.”
When Izzen, with an urgent expression, tried to persuade her, Heesu shouted irritably.
“That’s not my problem! What if the same thing happens again……!”
“That won’t happen. He’s already become humanized like that, hasn’t he?”
“Even if he looks like that now, I can’t know when he might become a demon again and try to attack me, can I? Why should I take such a risk? Izzen, this is clearly different from the caterpillar’s case. This time I absolutely cannot let it slide.”
“Miss Heesu, please. I’ll keep a good watch…….”
“How can I trust that? It’s Izzen’s fault that I almost ended up in that situation in the first place!”
“Miss Heesu, that’s……!”
“I was wrong!!”
Someone’s loud voice cut through their argument. Surprised, she turned her head to see the werewolf, Rufus, lifting his head from the floor to look at them.
“Huh…….”
Heesu gulped as she faced him.
Unlike Violen, who had delicate features like a pretty boy, Rufus had the face of a man with bold features. He had thick eyebrows and horizontally long eyes, and his nose bridge rose straight like a sculpture. His blue eyes, resembling a Siberian Husky, added mystique to his handsome appearance. His thick gray hair shimmered with a subtle silver light, making him look even more attractive.
He was truly a refreshingly handsome man.
