Chapter 8
As if he had expected that action, the man naturally dodged and calmly tilted his head.
“Oh my…… weren’t you enjoying yourself?”
“How could I have enjoyed it! Did that look like I was feeling good to you?!”
“Yes. At first you were flustered by that fellow’s aggressive displays of affection, but in the end you seemed to accept that affection and enjoy yourself.”
“No! It wasn’t good!”
“Oh dear, perhaps…… was this your first time communing with a pet in this way?”
“O-of course!”
“Then I’m sorry. That fellow caused great offense. Allow me to apologize in his place.”
When the man unexpectedly bowed politely and apologized courteously, Heesu hesitated.
“Huh……?”
“You must have been very flustered, but that fellow acted with pure intentions because he likes his new master so much. He wanted his new master to feel good because of him. It’s common in the demon world, but to think you’d be this flustered…… Indeed, there are many cultural differences between the demon world and human world.”
“C-cultural differences…….”
The man apologized so politely and spoke so plausibly that Heesu almost found herself agreeing. Thanks to that, she almost nodded unconsciously before snapping back to her senses and shouting angrily.
“No way, can this be explained by cultural differences?!”
“Of course. Even in the human world there are huge cultural differences between countries, and even in this small Korea there are cultural differences by region, so how much more so between completely different worlds? For instance, in the demon world, communing with pets like tentacles and feeling s****l pleasure is part of daily life, but in the human world, people pursue only emotional exchange without expecting any functional aspects…….”
“I-if you knew this would happen, you should have told me from the beginning!”
“Yes. That was my oversight for not considering the cultural differences. I sincerely apologize.”
“Ugh……!”
Heesu wanted to argue more, but her opponent spoke so eloquently and even apologized so politely that she ended up speechless. Well, what could be done about something that had already happened? Giving up, Heesu decided to ask about future matters instead of past ones.
“Don’t tell me I have to do this kind of thing every time I fight and beat a demon?”
“Yes. Most demons want to express their affection to their new master with their whole body…….”
“This is insane…….”
Heesu groaned while holding her forehead. This really was a magical girl violation story. This time she at least didn’t get violated all the way to the end, but there was no guarantee it would be the same next time. Just thinking about what kind of monster she might encounter next and what might happen to her was terrifying. So no matter how much she had longed to be a magical girl, it would be right to quit immediately and run away before suffering worse things.
No matter how kind his face looked, she shouldn’t be fooled. As long as this was a magical girl violation story, the man before her was no different from QB.
QB (t/n: Kyubey) was a character from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, an alien creature with a cute rabbit-like appearance. On the surface it looked like a mascot character that commonly appeared in magical girl stories, but its true nature was far from ordinary.
That con artist was a heartless swindler who lured innocent girls into unfair contracts as magical girls, then corrupted them and sucked out their very souls.
Pretending to be on the magical girls’ side while actually being the worst villain and mastermind behind everything, it delivered a shocking reversal that hit magical girls and viewers hard in the back of the head. Watching that anime with its shocking developments that caused such a huge stir at the time in real time, Heesu was so shocked that she spent months grinding her teeth and cursing QB.
So at this very moment, Heesu couldn’t help but feel great regret about herself. She had learned the lesson from watching that anime that contracts should be carefully examined and entered into prudently, so how could she have forgotten that the moment she actually became a magical girl, intoxicated by joy?
So she should run away right now. Of course the man would probably refuse to let her go, talking about contracts and such, but she could just ignore it all and run away. Just as Heesu made that decision and sharply raised her head:
“If you dislike it, you may quit being a magical girl even now.”
When the person before her, presumed to be on QB’s level, said that first in a voice filled with guilt, Heesu unconsciously took a step back and asked in a flustered voice:
“Even now……. I can quit?”
“Yes.”
At the man’s firm answer, Heesu blinked with a confused expression. In Puella Magi Madoka Magica, the contract to become a magical girl was a forced contract that could never be undone once made. If he really was on QB‘s level, there was no way such a loose condition would come up.
“But isn’t this the kind of contract where once you’ve agreed to be a magical girl, you can’t quit in the middle……?”
“Where would such a thing exist? We didn’t even write up a contract.”
“Even without writing a contract…… once you start being a magical girl, usually…….”
“That can’t be. Naturally, if you try it once and think ‘no, I can’t do this,’ you should be able to quit anytime. We’re not such an unreasonable organization. We have a policy of putting magical girls’ human rights first.”
“Ah, I see.”
Heesu nodded without thinking. Hearing it put that way, it was perfectly reasonable. The man who had clearly seemed like a terrible con artist just moments ago now began to look like a salesman with proper business ethics. At least he wasn’t someone who could be compared to garbage like QB.
