Chapter 81
Heesu was silent, and Jaeha yelled at her again.
“Hey! So where are you?! Where the hell are you right now? What kind of girl just stays out all night wherever she wants?! You’re completely shameless…… are you crazy? Get your a*s over here right now!”
“You little s**t, seriously.”
Suddenly enraged by Jaeha’s verbal abuse, Heesu lost her composure before she could even find a way to manage the situation.
“Why, what?! Is a girl not allowed to stay out all night or be shameless?! I’m an adult with free will, so let me be shameless and stay out all night as much as I want! What the hell do you care what I do?! What right does a younger brother have to call his older sister a ‘girl,’ or say she’s ‘shameless,’ or tell her to ‘get her a*s over here’?! There’s a limit to how rude you can be! Are you the one who’s crazy?! Just leave me alone! I’m going to keep being shameless and staying out all night as much as I want!”
At Heesu’s rapid-fire barrage of words, Jaeha let out a dumbfounded scoff.
“You’re f*****g crazy……. Are you really saying that?!”
“What’s wrong with saying it!”
“Where are you right now, seriously! Tell me now! If you don’t get your a*s over here, I will!”
“I don’t want to!!”
Heesu shrieked, then hung up and threw her phone. Even in her anger, she was careful not to break her phone, so she aimed for the sofa. It was the sad habit of a commoner.
“F**k! He’s not my dad, what the hell is he?! Who gave him the right to police his older sister! It’s my freedom where I hang out or what I do! Why?! Why the hell is he like this?! I swear, younger brother or not, I’m going to……!”
Still fuming, Heesu couldn’t contain her rising anger and just screamed at nothing in particular. Seeing this, Edstan’s eyes lit up, and he went into a room and came out with a whip.
“Master. If you’re that angry, you can take it out on me with this…….”
“Ah, get lost. I’m not in the mood.”
“Whiiine…….”
Heesu snapped at him and lay down on the sofa. Still annoyed, she started kicking her legs in the air. Watching her, Rufus asked worriedly.
“Master…… are you very angry? You yelled a lot. Did you fight? Is the other person a bad guy?”
“No, it’s my sibling…… Siblings…… are just like that…….”
“Are siblings arch-enemies?”
“It’s not so different, I guess…….”
Heesu quickly grew tired of kicking and slumped onto the sofa with a sigh. As she simmered, her head slowly cooled down, and her anger was replaced with worry.
“This is a big problem, f**k.”
Heesu exhaled a look of despair.
She had a rough idea why Jaeha had come to her studio apartment. Her mother, who worried a lot even though her adult daughter was living alone, would often send Jaeha with side dishes and tell him to check up on her. She did this every time, even though she knew Heesu never cooked and always let the side dishes spoil. No matter how much Heesu nagged her not to, it was useless.
She must have come for the same reason this time. Considering when Jaeha had visited last, it was about time for him to come again.
“If Mom finds out, it’s really over…….”
Heesu shivered as she mumbled.
Even if she kept the magical girl stuff a secret, how on earth could she explain living with three burly adult men? Even if they were illegal immigrants with no nationality or citizenship, if there was just one guy, she could have claimed he was a boyfriend, but there were three of them. No matter how open-minded her parents were, they would never understand something like this. If she was caught doing this, she would be dragged home and locked up before she even had a chance to deal with the financial problems.
“Jaeha really wouldn’t tell Mom, would he?”
Thinking that, she became genuinely worried.
“He hates worrying Mom, so he wouldn’t easily tell her, but…….”
Heesu groaned, burying her face in the sofa.
Jaeha was a filial son. Even though he was attending a university further away than Heesu, he insisted on commuting for a long time from home because he was worried his mother would be lonely.
Not only did he meticulously take care of all the parents’ anniversaries, but he also got his driver’s license early, drove them to all sorts of nice places on holidays, and bought them all sorts of delicious food. Even though he was a college freshman, he was a smart student at a prestigious university and earned a decent income from tutoring, so it seemed he was already giving them pocket money.
Since a young man who was just in his twenties was so resourceful and devotedly filial, not only his parents but all the other parents praised him endlessly.
In other words, he was what you’d call a “friend’s perfect son.” He fit the image perfectly. He was good at studying, good at sports, had many talents, had a good personality, and she hated to admit it, but he was also quite good-looking. She wouldn’t tell her mom, but he was even good at fighting. Even Heesu, his older sister, would inwardly wonder how such a person could exist.
Jaeha’s only flaw was that he was her younger brother. No matter how perfect a man he was, to Heesu, he was just an impertinent and annoying younger brother.
In fact, the problem wasn’t that he was her younger brother, but just that Jaeha himself was the problem. He had always had an unusually bad attitude towards Heesu, his older sister. While he was so good to their parents, he would constantly meddle, pick fights, and say rude things to his sister. So, whenever Heesu and he met, they would always bicker.
Heesu thought it was entirely Jaeha’s fault and that he was just a bad person. When she told her friends about it, they would just laugh it off, saying it was a common sibling dynamic. They would also scold her, asking what she had to complain about with such a perfect younger brother.
But Heesu, the person involved, couldn’t laugh it off. It upset her. She wished he would be as good to his sister as he was to their mother. No, she didn’t even wish for him to be good to her; she just wished he wouldn’t pick fights. Heesu simply couldn’t understand why he was like that.
No, actually, she thought she could understand. And that made her even more upset. To a perfect and meticulous person like Jaeha, Heesu must seem incredibly frustrating.
Heesu was different from Jaeha in every way.
