Chapter 52
She couldn’t even cry out of guilt. She admitted the deepest truth in her heart. The real reason Violet had left wasn’t because of her father.
“I did hate how Father—the Baron—tormented us. But what tormented me more than that…”
It wasn’t that she was most afraid of her father leeching off their marriage. The more fundamental fear was that Aldrick would end up hating her too because of him.
“I could clearly imagine you growing to resent me because of my father. And maybe that’s why I got scared and ran away first.”
“Why would you think that all by yourself without saying a word to me?”
“That’s why I said I was foolish and pathetic…”
“No. I can understand it. You didn’t do anything wrong. The one who’s wrong is the Baron. You didn’t do anything wrong at all. Thank you for telling me even now.”
He mumbled as he rubbed his face into Violet’s embrace.
“If you just don’t leave me, nothing else matters. I don’t care what your father does—as long as you’re here, I’ll be fine. If I had known sooner that it was all because of him… if I’d known he was making you suffer like this, I would’ve kicked him out right then and there. I didn’t like that he sold you for a few coins to begin with… But still, it’s because of him that we were able to meet…”
At his rambling confession, Violet cupped his face and made him look at her.
“I’ve done something so terrible to you, I don’t even have the right to ask for forgiveness. And yet, you… you really still love me? Even though I’m just… this kind of person?”
“Don’t say that. Is it because you don’t feel the same about me anymore?”
“No, it’s not that.”
“Then it’s the same for me. Please don’t think about anything else. Let’s just think about how we can be happy together.”
With those words, Aldrick gently brought his lips to hers.
Violet still didn’t have the certainty that she was allowed to accept him, but his lips, right before her eyes, were too dearly missed to resist. She surrendered.
She was just sorry. And sorry again.

Once their bare bodies were entangled, they showed no sign of separating.
“Haah… Violet…”
The moment they kissed, she’d known it would come to this, but she hadn’t expected it to rush in with such desperate intensity.
What began with a light kiss soon turned into a blazing fire.
The moment Aldrick rose from her embrace and hovered over her, their stormy reunion began.
Because it had been so long since they’d come together, both were equally desperate. There was no telling who initiated what.
Clothes were stripped away in a frenzy, and they left kisses like brands across each other’s bodies.
Aldrick pressed his lips frantically to the red marks on Violet’s wrists—marks left by the very rope he’d tied her with.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
But there was no need for further apology.
Even as he entered her with urgency, Violet didn’t flinch. Instead, she clung to him, accepting him even more eagerly.
It was a desperation so strong it felt like she would die if they didn’t make love at that moment. It was less an act of pleasure than a ritual to confirm that they were truly still there, with each other.
Though the storm passed once, the heat did not die down.
After catching his breath above her, Aldrick lifted his head.
“I didn’t hurt you, did I? I haven’t lost control like that since our first night…”
Violet gave his lips a light kiss.
“I’m fine. If anything, I left marks all over you.”
She pressed her lips to the bite and scratch marks on his back and shoulders.
Drunk on the sweetness, Aldrick’s eyes darkened again.
“You’re just too lovable. I honestly don’t know what to do with myself.”
She could feel him growing hard again, still inside her.
“Wait, even so… not again right away—”
“No.”
He stopped Violet from getting up. He wasn’t heavy, but with both arms braced beside her face, she could feel the weight and pressure of a man.
“You didn’t really think I’d let you go after just once, did you?”
He nuzzled into her neck and bit lightly as he spoke.
“I missed you. Ever since the moment I found you, I’ve wanted to do this.”
“Ah—”
At that tingling stimulation, Violet let out a soft moan.
“I don’t resent you anymore. But when I think about those days without you, it still makes my blood boil.”
