Chapter 94
Lips descended over her closed eyes.
Violet froze in place, as if she had even forgotten how to breathe. After brushing over her eyelids, his lips moved to her tense cheeks, and finally, to her lips.
Despite the aggressive force he’d shown earlier, the kiss was incredibly cautious. His lips touched hers so slowly, so lightly it was almost teasing—then pulled away.
Was that it?
She slowly opened her eyes, only to find Aldrick watching her intently, as if gauging her reaction.
He had pushed her in a burst of anger, but in truth, if Violet had shown genuine resistance, he had planned to back off without complaint.
“If you push me away now, I’ll go back for tonight. But that doesn’t mean I’ll give up on you. That divorce you’re hoping for will never happen, Violet.”
Her body was trembling, but Violet knew it wasn’t from fear.
What surged through her was a rush of unfamiliar excitement and an intense passion she had never felt before.
“Violet…?”
And then Aldrick clearly felt it.

Violet pulled gently at the hem of his jacket.
The grip was light and hesitant, as if she still harbored uncertainty, but to Aldrick, it was irresistible, like a moth to a flame.
She hadn’t pushed him away. In fact, she had pulled him closer. That alone sent all the blood in his body rushing to his head and heart, ready to burst.
“Violet…”
Her name, spoken with overwhelming emotion, faded the moment their lips met again.
It was the moment he had always dreamed of. The moment he would hold Violet in his arms and kiss her deeply. And now that the dream had become real, the thrill surpassed anything he had imagined.
Aldrick forgot all about his planned, rehearsed moves. All he could do was chase after that sweetness with abandon, licking, nibbling, and exploring as instinct drove him.
One taste only made him crave more. He couldn’t bring himself to let go. The idea of ending it with a mature, gentle kiss vanished entirely.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t plan for our first kiss to be like this… I wanted to kiss you somewhere nicer, in a better mood, for your sake…”
Even as he apologized, he continued to nibble at the corner of her mouth. His kisses trailed lower and soon settled on the nape of her immaculate neck.
“Should I stop now?”
He whispered as he gently bit down on her soft shoulder. It was a careful question, but the truth was he didn’t want to stop at all.
If Violet were to push him away now, he wasn’t sure he’d recover from it.
His joy or despair rested entirely on her response. And soon, he found himself at the gates of heaven.
Violet, who had quietly closed her eyes and accepted him, wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in deeper.
“Just keep going.”
Violet welcomed his rough, crashing kisses. She had no choice now but to admit it. She’d tried to deny it, but she truly did like him.
Far more deeply than she had realized.
Unlike how she had recoiled from even a brush of the hand from other men, she didn’t hate how Aldrick clung to her, bit her, devoured her.
No—she loved it. That was the problem.
Just like Aldrick had said, she had never stopped caring about him since they met.
She didn’t quite understand what he meant by ‘touching himself’… but ever since he became an adult, it was true that she had grown increasingly conscious of him.
She thought she was doing it for his sake, repressing those feelings. But now, she couldn’t help but question whether that had been the right choice.
More than anything, she was starting to want.
She had always believed she wasn’t the type to desire anything in life.
Given her circumstances, it had been easier to let go, to give up.
But not now.
Now, she didn’t want to give him up. She wanted to keep him.
If Aldrick was holding onto her like this, why shouldn’t she take him? A new kind of determination bloomed in Violet’s heart.
Of course, there were plenty of young, pretty noblewomen in the capital who could offer Aldrick better futures.
But so what?
Maybe those women could love him and help him in life, but no one else had watched over him as long as she had.
So Violet dared to believe: there would never be anyone else who could love, understand, and embrace Aldrick better than she could.

Hugging the broad shoulders that filled her arms, Violet made up her mind to be just a little selfish.
Her head spun with the sudden realization of her own feelings and the growing desire she felt for Aldrick.
