Chapter 34
Irene walked along the desk to the corner of the attic and opened the small window next to the long one. Fairly cool air flowed in through the small passage. It felt as if her clouded mind was being refreshed.
“Ah, what is really wrong with me lately? I feel like my mind is gradually going crazy.”
Irene let out a deep sigh and lamented as she looked at the forest scenery.
She was clearly very happy and enjoyed being with Idris, but after some time passed, she kept acting like this. The more she thought deeply about him, the more she tried to dig into him properly, the more it felt as if anger was surging.
When she turned her head thinking everything was resolved and forgotten, a great emotion would overwhelm her once again. Looking at this state, it seemed she was the one going crazy first, not Idris.
“It certainly was not like this at first……”
She muttered, resting her hand on the window frame. Unlike her restless heart, the night sky and the forest were, as always, so black and beautiful. So was the beautiful starlight embedded here and there.
It is peaceful.
Irene muttered that to herself without realizing it.
The world always flows peacefully, quite beautifully, regardless of her.
Even though someone has become such a fickle person and is suffering.
Irene stretched out her hand toward the direction where a secluded village would be. Between the gaps of her white fingers, the lake and the black forest beyond it were visible. After watching that sight for a while, Irene blinked.
“Or is it just that I am the problem.”
Even though her world could flow peacefully enough just as the world out there does, she might be struggling like this solely because of her own issues. Normally, she would have slapped both her cheeks, asking what kind of crazy thought that was, but this time it was quite persuasive.
After all, there was only Idris and her here, and there was truly not a single problem with him.
Whew. Irene let out a sigh as her mood did not improve at all, and straightened her upper body, which had been leaning far out. She closed the transparent window, which was without a single handprint, and threw her body onto the bed as if collapsing.
Looking at the plain wooden ceiling, Irene blinked blankly and turned over onto her side. Her mood was really a mess.
“……?”
Irene’s eyes, which were about to watch the night sky through the long window, suddenly caught sight of a small box placed on the desk. She lifted her sluggish body again and opened the box.
Inside, there was the diary Irene had been diligently writing in earlier, along with a stack of diaries that differed only in the color of their covers. After tracing the tops with her fingertips, Irene impulsively pulled out one of the diaries in the middle. It was a diary with a white cover.
With an indifferent face, Irene flipped to a random page.
[Why am I the only one so lonely? whyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlymewhyonlyme
Why?Why?Why?Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Everyone ridicules me. Everyone is afraid of me. Now really no one likes me.
Marina, I miss you. Marina. Marina.
I protected her from them so much. I really tried. Those things dared to harm Marina.
Marina, Marina, Marina, Marina. I am sorry, I am sorry. I am sorry. I am sorry. I am sorry. I will never say anything again. What does it matter if I kill a few people, I said. imissyouimissyouimissyouimissyouimissyouimissyou
No. I am a human. Am I not supposed to be like this? No. I miss Marina. No. No. No. No. Wrong. I am a person. I am a person. I said I am a person.
I am not a monster. ■■■ No.]
“…….”
Irene quietly smiled and closed the diary again. It was nothing more than a rough reading from the middle, but there seemed to be no need to see more.
Really, how should I put it.
In many ways, the content was beyond imagination.
Placing the diary at the bottom of the box again, Irene closed the beautifully decorated box with care. Wearing a faint smile, Irene lay down gracefully on the bed.
‘Looking at it now, things have really improved, haven’t they? I suppose my personality has just worsened and my whims have become severe. I should sleep with peace of mind.’
As expected, being with Idris was helpful if anything; it was not a hindrance. Her stifled chest felt refreshed in an instant. Going crazy, my foot.
Somehow, it felt as if she could have good dreams today.
‘Though it has been years since I really had a dream.’
Irene closed her eyes with a much more refreshed face.
* * *
“……!”
Idris, who let out a soundless scream, sat bolt upright in bed. His blue eyes shook mercilessly with fear and confusion. His forehead was drenched in cold sweat.
‘A dream…….’
Idris quietly felt relieved and touched the front of his neck. He could feel his protruding Adam’s apple and his skin, which was perfectly smooth.
It was truly a terrible nightmare.
