Chapter 58
“Where are you trying to run to?!”
“No, truly, just why are you doing this……!”
Idris finally grabbed Irene’s arm firmly, which he had only been twitching his hands near without daring to touch. He was startled by the bare skin that was warmer than expected, but he soon struggled with all his might to pull the arm away.
Due to his heavy resistance, the thin right arm that had been loosely draped around his neck finally fell away.
‘Oh, he is much stronger than I thought?’
In that moment when Irene was marvelling at that fact, Idris moved swiftly and conversely hooked his arm from behind to subdue her. As she was momentarily choked, she simply laughed, finding it fun. He was a man who did not even amount to a handful. Nothing he did felt like a threat.
She felt a solid body behind her back that was entirely different from her own. It was fascinating to feel a body composed only of muscle without a single ounce of fat. She had seen his bare body when she first rescued him, and since she knew all his measurements, she knew his body was unexpectedly thick and large, but she had not imagined she would experience it this vividly.
“Wow! Mr. Idris, your body is very good and you are fast!”
“Why do you make such a statement that is prone to misunderstanding? No. Never mind. Please, just stay still. I beg of you.”
Idris loosely wrapped his arm around her neck and kept the rest of his submerged body as far away as possible. He looked as if he was going crazy from the desire not to touch. Yet, seeing him hold her like this suggested that her unexpected behavior had been quite difficult for him to endure.
Irene, who had no particular intention of resisting or breaking free, tilted her head all the way back to meet his eyes.
“Is it something to be that disgusted by? Anyone watching would think I was doing something bad.”
Idris looked down at the woman blinking innocently and wore an expression of distant exhaustion. With hollow eyes that seemed to have given up on everything, he refuted feebly.
“By the world’s standards, this is usually called harassment…….”
“This is?”
She was just asking to play, so why? To be uncomfortable with being naked…… she wondered if one could even argue that way when she was not even human. She understood being embarrassed, but it was certainly not something to react to this degree. At least, by Irene’s standards.
Even if she was almost identical to a human, Irene’s values and way of thinking had already crossed the point of no return several times due to Marina’s influence. Therefore, words could not get through.
She stared silently at Idris with eyes that could not understand. Seeing his deep blue eyes, which were overtly troubled, she eventually withdrew her playfulness and put on a serious expression.
“Um, if you were truly and seriously offended, I will not do it. I only meant for us to play. I had no such intentions either.”
“…….”
That calm explanation was, conversely, astounding. He wanted to snap back, ‘There is no way you did not know, do not make me laugh,’ but seeing those clear eyes staring at him, his speech was choked.
In the first place, would Irene, who was merely mimicking a human with excellent acting, even possess this kind of sensitivity?
Somehow, he felt like trash who had misinterpreted the intentions of an innocent child of his own age pulling at him to play. No, putting aside that she was a wicked being, she must be at least two years, perhaps billions of years older than him, so why did he feel this way?
“……It is not a matter of like or dislike.”
“Yes? But that is right. Is not harassment something that makes one feel s****l shame and dislike?”
“No, haa……. I am not saying the dictionary definition is wrong. No. Never mind. I am sorry. I only said that because, regardless of liking or disliking, I simply did not know where to put my eyes. Please, put on some clothes.”
He gave up on the explanation entirely. At those words, Irene laughed as if it were absurd, and also half-playfully.
“Why do you react so much? You are making such a fuss on my behalf, Mr. Idris, that I do not even have a chance to feel shy.”
“You call this a fuss? This? Above all, was basic shame a concept that could disappear just like that?”
“Oh come now, it is just the two of us, so what does it matter? It is not as if we are in the middle of a square or anything.”
Irene waved her hand and giggled. Idris, terrified that his leg might touch her, recoiled in horror and further loosened the arm he was formally wrapping around her.
“Is it not more of a problem that it is just the two of us? No. It is not just a problem; it is something that should never happen.”
“Wow, Mr. Idris. That was truly such an old-fashioned statement, like someone who grew up being taught that you should only hold hands after marriage.”
