Ysaris smiled brightly at Cain, who kept apologizing.

In truth, she was the one who should have been sorry. It was because of her circumstances that he’d been pushed to this desperate choice.

That guilt weighed heavily on Ysaris Tennilath—especially after the Blood Covenant. Judging by her husband’s words, it seemed she had broken that covenant.

Their conversation continued despite her turmoil. She learned Cain’s true name and fragments of his past, shared plans for the future, clung to his warmth until dawn… and then, it was truly time to part.

All she could do was send him off with a smile—the man she loved, leaping into danger for her. She smiled as wide as she could, so he’d remember her joy. So that in his darkest moments, this memory would give him strength.

They bid farewell with smiles, not tears. Cain smiled back.

……At dawn, after watching Cain’s departure from the castle walls until his procession vanished, Ysaris turned to leave—

She never imagined disaster would strike the moment her strongest knight left. Even avoiding prying eyes by taking back alleys, who would dare kidnap a princess in the heart of the capital? With a royal knight present, no less?

And after the King himself had guaranteed her safety, no one could’ve anticipated this. Trembling with fury, fear, and helplessness, Ysaris couldn’t even begin to guess how to escape.

Blindfolded, bound, and gagged, she thrashed until a peculiar scent hit her—pungent yet oddly alluring, too sharp for perfume but strangely enticing.

‘Poison? What—?’

She held her breath, but the fumes seeped in through her nose. When nothing happened, she doubted the kidnapper’s intent—until the gag loosened. Instinctively, she spat a threat.

‘What kind of absurd conversation is this?!’

Just as Ysaris began questioning the man’s sanity, she heard a soft “Heh.”

Before she could react, a cold hand gripped her face. A strange energy seeped into her skin.

Thud. Thud.

Her heartbeat slowed. Dizziness swirled. A hazy voice drilled into her mind—an irresistible command.

Like a puppet, she echoed his words—then collapsed into unconsciousness. The man tsked as she fell.

Unbound, Ysaris was returned to the alley where she’d been taken. Found unconscious among her dead guards, she was swiftly returned to the palace. The King silenced all witnesses, burying the incident as if it never happened.

Meanwhile, Ysaris Tennilath—who’d shared her past self’s senses—felt like she’d been doused in ice water.

Though she hadn’t seen him, she knew that scent, that voice.

Jebiken Barilio

The very Duke allied with Cain had targeted her.

……And Ysaris Chernian had forgotten every truth Cain had revealed.

She no longer knew Kazhan.
