Chapter 165
“…Miss Lea.”
“How do you feel?”
“I feel… really good.”
He truly did. He felt so full of strength that it seemed like he could rush straight into the enemy camp and defeat them all. At the same time, he felt regret… He could no longer feel the inside of her mouth.
As that thought crossed his mind, Calix came to mind. Had he always monopolized such incredible guiding?
For a moment, jealousy stirred. The urge to lock her away in his own territory and make her look only at him, a deep possessiveness, spread like wildfire.
Zion slowly sat up and immediately reached out toward her, thinking that right now, he could actually touch her.
“Lea.”
At that moment, the tent door swung open and Calix entered. In an instant, red and blue eyes clashed in the air.
“Looks like the guiding session is over.”
“Your Highness.”
“Then you should have come right back.”
Calix, rebuking her as he strode up, wrapped his arm around Lea’s shoulders and pulled her into his embrace. In that instant, Zion felt he didn’t want to lose her, so he reflexively reached out his hand.
“……?”
“What’s this?”
Both Zion and Calix blurted out in confusion. Zion, sitting on the cot, had reached out and somehow, he easily grabbed Lea’s shoulder, the one Calix was holding.
Something he should only have been able to do by standing up and moving closer, he’d done from the cot.
Zion himself was startled, his mouth falling open. The air in the space felt compressed and strange, but what he held was definitely Lea’s shoulder and the back of Calix’s hand.
“Ow…”
Startled, Zion unconsciously gripped harder. Even though Calix was protecting her with his arm, Lea’s shoulder still hurt. At her short cry, Zion snapped to his senses and let go of her shoulder.
“A-Are you all right?!”
Zion hurriedly got up from the cot. He couldn’t bring himself to put his hand on her shoulder again, so he only checked her condition with his eyes. Calix, meanwhile, grabbed Lea’s shoulder and stepped back, looking displeased.
“Vice Commander, you seem a bit too close.”
“…My apologies.”
Zion was too distracted by the thought of having shown a new ability and of having hurt Lea. The emotions were written all over his face, which only made Calix more annoyed.
It looked as though Zion’s feelings for Lea had deepened.
“But what was that power just now?”
Putting aside his personal feelings for the moment, Calix recalled the strange phenomenon and asked. Zion wanted to answer, but he himself hadn’t yet fully grasped it.
So instead of answering, he reached out his hand toward a table some distance away. He sensed a strange, unfamiliar energy. Then, in Zion’s hand, there was the cup of water that had been sitting on the table.
He had brought the cup, which was easily ten paces away, to himself without moving.
“Hooh…”
“So this is a new ability…”
With a bewildered look, Zion stared down at his own hand. Watching the two of them, Lea calmly spoke.
“It looks like your ability has awakened. I thought this might happen.”
“…You knew?” Calix asked.
Lea replied calmly. Partly from memories of the past, but also just an intuition she couldn’t explain herself.
“The Second Corps Commander awakened his ability after just one session of guiding. So I thought you might, too, since you received guiding even earlier, Sir Zion.”
Thinking of Ilion’s new enhancement ability, Lea nodded to herself. While she was lost in thought, Calix raised an eyebrow.
Why is Ilion ‘the First Corps Commander’ and this guy is ‘Sir Zion’?
Annoyed by her different terms of address, Calix showed his feelings openly, but Lea was too lost in thought to notice.
“Ah, could it be due to the difference in ability rank?”
“…What do you mean, Miss Lea?”
Look at that, he even calls her ‘Miss Lea’.
“There may be a difference in your ranks, but I think the rank of your awakened abilities is also a factor. Oh… I need to write this down.”
Lea felt as if she was on the verge of figuring something out, standing on the vague line between clarity and uncertainty. Almost as if entranced, she slipped out of Calix’s arms and went outside on her own.
Because of that, only Calix and Zion were left in the tent, both wearing bewildered expressions.
