Chapter 27
‘Hah. You think you might have liked him even before losing your memory? So, you want to roll around with that brat, and you ask me to teach you about s*x?’
Suppressing his twisting emotions, he had asked, and all she could do was spout nonsense, wanting him to teach her how to ‘do it’ so she could roll around with another brat.
All while wearing an innocent face like a girl in first love… thinking of that shameless little bastard.
Don’t spout such ridiculous nonsense. You never liked him. What you liked was…
‘Viern—!’
‘Hehe. I don’t mind as long as Viern is by my side.’
‘Hey, Viern. I like you.’
‘I like Viern the most in the whole world!’
……Yes, the one you liked wasn’t him. It was me. At least until you lost your memory.
Suddenly, the last face he saw before she lost her memory came to mind. Her face, ghostly pale, staring blankly at him and the woman in his arms. The pained face he had turned away from.
‘……I’m hurt too.’
The moment that voice, so damp it seemed it might vanish any second, resurfaced, Viern’s mood, already at rock bottom, plummeted even deeper into the earth.
After that day, Viern stopped doing administrative work in the Princess’s chambers. But Diana no longer came to find him.
And not long after, news arrived that she had been bringing men from the streets into her chambers.
* * *
It was the chief attendant who sought him out, roughly five days after that had started.
“Your Grace… This is… an indecent matter, but…”
The chief attendant, who had come with an utterly mortified expression, reported in a cautious voice the things happening in the Princess’s chambers.
“What……?”
Whoosh. All expression vanished from Viern’s face. He immediately got up to verify the truth himself. When he arrived at the Princess’s bedchamber, the servants bowed their heads, unsure of what to do. Aisen was nowhere to be seen.
Just as he was about to demand an explanation from the attendant…
“Mmmph…! Y-Your Highness, there… ahh…!”
From inside the room came the seductive moans of a young man. Unable to bear it any longer, Viern flung the door open with a BANG! And at the scene unfolding inside the room, Viern froze on the spot.
“Your Grace? What are you doing, coming in without knocking?”
Diana looked back at him and spoke in a reproachful tone.
“Hah…”
A short, sharp breath escaped through Viern’s clenched teeth. The Princess, sitting sprawled against the headboard of the bed, was gazing down at male prostitutes from the streets who were kneeling on the floor, stripped naked.
“What in the… are you doing?”
“I was studying.”
“Studying…?”
“You wouldn’t help me, so what choice did I have?”
Diana retorted with an innocent, clueless face and turned her gaze back to the kneeling, sobbing men whose hands and feet were bound.
“Look, Duke. They say this is a man’s c**k. When I looked at it, it got bigger…”
Before her words could even finish—
Slash—
As he followed her gaze and his eyes landed on the bulging cockhead protruding from the g***n of one of the kneeling men… In that moment, Viern silently drew his sword and pointed it at them.
“Eeek, p-please, spare us!”
Feeling the quiet killing intent emanating from him, the men prostrated themselves flat on the floor, begging for their lives.
“Duke!”
A startled Diana raised her voice, stepping in front of the trembling men.
“What are you doing?!”
“Step aside.”
Contrary to his rash drawing of the sword, his voice as he spoke to the Princess was calm. He seemed composed at a glance, but the thick veins bulging on the back of his hand gripping the sword’s hilt fully betrayed the turbulent emotions raging within him.
“I-I said no! You’re the one who should put that sword away and step aside right now. That’s an order!”
“I am restraining the urge to carve out the hideous things reflected in your eyes right this instant. So, unless you wish to see blood, do not anger me further, Your Highness.”
Diana bravely tried to stand up to him, but she faltered slightly under the murderous aura emanating from Viern.
“Take them all out.”
At the cold command, the knights in the corridor entered and dragged the men out.
“No! Don’t take them away!”
Diana rushed toward the knights, but was immediately restrained as Viern hooked an arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.
Thud.
The men were dragged out, and the bedroom door closed. Soon, the room fell silent. Diana, who had been staring hopelessly at the closed door, suddenly turned a furious glare on Viern.
“If you’re not going to help me, Duke, then why are you interfering? Bring them back! I’ve been telling you, it’s an order!”
“So you’re saying that for that utterly ridiculous reason of catering to Aisen’s preferences, you intend to… do such things with those… those people?”
“Yes! Why not?”
Seeing Diana still going on about that fool Aisen, Viern felt a throbbing headache coming on.
