Chapter 66
“I-I… ah!”
Frustrated and on the verge of tears, yet still refusing to say she liked him, her stubbornness grated on him. Viern gritted his molars and moved his hips again.
“You like this in the end, don’t you?”
“Aahn, ah, hhaang!”
“Your body can’t even live without my c**k now. Dripping wet the moment you see it, chewing on it, saying it tastes good. And still, you like Aisen?”
Not even asking her to love him in Aisen’s place, just begging her to like his f*****g c**k—and still she wouldn’t answer. That fact made him feel a little wretched.
“Have you never, not even for a moment, thought of me favorably?”
With the slapping sound of flesh meeting flesh, he poured out the resentment lodged inside him, pressing her relentlessly. Finally, the answer he desired spilled from her lips.
“Yes, ah, yes! Hah! Viern! I like Viern! Hahnn!”
“Damn it.”
The answer, wrung from her, left him wretched, yet he was furious at himself for becoming aroused again. But what could he do? The one who loves more is inevitably the weaker one. After another wave of heat passed, her bed was in complete disarray. Discovering the bodily fluids he hadn’t wiped in time now sticking to her skin, Viern, disgusted with his own beast-like intensity, ran a hand over his face.
“Ha… I’m sorry, Your Highness. Water to wash…”
As he let out a short sigh and looked down at her lying there in a mess, her eyes met his and she grinned broadly.
“It’s fine, Duke. I really liked it.”
“…….”
Her crescent-shaped, smiling eyes sparked another surge of heat within him, but Viern forcibly ignored it and headed for the bathroom.
A short while later, he returned with the sound of water, his voice noticeably calmer.
“The warm water is ready.”
“I can’t even move a finger.”
At her whining complaint, Viern chuckled and scooped her up into his arms. Diana, floating in the air, naturally wrapped her arms around his neck. Carrying her, he strode purposefully toward the bathroom.
After lowering her into the warm bathtub, he soaked a sponge with soap and carefully washed away his traces stuck here and there on her. The gentle sound of splashing water filled the quiet bathroom.
Diana, playing with the water, yawned silently. Feeling the soft touch of the warm water against her skin, she gradually grew drowsy. She remembered the day long ago when he had pulled her from the tower. Back then, he had washed her like this too…
After leaving the bathroom and while towel-drying her damp hair, Diana repeatedly nodded off, her head drooping heavily. Viern gently pulled her toward him to keep her head from lolling. Her damp head then bumped softly against his chest.
“We can’t dry your hair like this, Your Highness.”
“Mmm…”
“You must be sleepy.”
“Hmmm…”
Instead of a proper answer, only garbled, sleepy sounds emerged. Seeing her eyes practically closed, she seemed half-asleep. That defenseless look made Viern let out a soft chuckle.
“…….”
He gazed at her silently for a moment, then gently stroked her still-damp hair and began to speak in a quiet voice.
“Did you know, Your Highness? You were like this before, too. While you recoiled if anyone else touched you, you entrusted everything to me without any guard.”
A story from the past, one he couldn’t bring up while she was awake, began to flow.
“Back then, you were like a newly hatched chick, or a vulnerable young beast that had lost her parents. Somehow, I couldn’t just leave you be…”
A confession-like soliloquy continued. It was a past she couldn’t remember. But even if she never remembered it again, the three-odd years she had loved him were memories he would carry for a lifetime.
“That’s what it was, I think. At first, I brought you out of the burning tower to secure the royal bloodline, but at some point, I began to give you my heart, my affection, and now… even my love.”
For some reason, Viern’s voice choked with emotion, and he couldn’t continue.
“Mmm.”
Diana made a sleepy, grumbling sound and shifted slightly. His blue eyes, watching her, curved softly.
“I like you, Your Highness. I’m sorry I couldn’t say this to you sooner.”
He kissed her hair and whispered.
“I love you, Your Highness.”
At that moment, Diana’s closed eyelids fluttered open.
“Viern…?”
She blinked slowly a few times, recognized the man before her, and beamed, her eyes curving into crescents.
“Heehee, it’s Viern.”
Still not fully awake, Diana smiled drowsily and burrowed into his embrace. Both of them were wearing only a single robe, having just bathed. As her small hands unconsciously fumbled at the opening of his robe, tracing his chest, Viern felt his body stiffen and tried to soothe her.
“……If you’re awake, you should lie down properly. It’s time to sleep.”
“Mmm, no.”
“Even if it’s no, you must sleep. It’s late.”
“Then sing me a lullaby.”
She whined like a child, mumbling with her eyes closed.
“Your Highness is not a baby.”
“Mmm, but you called me a greedy baby before.”
Chuckling softly, Viern’s hand, which had been stroking her, froze mid-motion. For a moment, he wore an expression of disbelief, as if he’d misheard, and stared at her.
“You sang it for me before. When I had a cold. Sing me that song.”
“…….”
But he hadn’t misheard.
“Your memories……”
His voice trembled faintly. Diana, who had been urging him in her half-asleep state, suddenly sensed the air around them subtly drop and lifted her eyelids.
