Chapter 18
“Or you could tell me how you ended up getting cursed.”
At my words, Celesto lightly bit his tongue. It looked like he was weighing which would be more painful to reveal under the influence of the d**g.
He made his decision quickly.
“As I said before… I got cursed when I went to the basement of the old chapel.”
“Why did you go there? I heard it’s been a restricted area since even before the chapel was relocated.”
“…I was trying to find out why my brother died. It seemed like that was the last place Leocel had been going in and out of.”
“Oh…”
With that answer, the question that had been bothering me ever since I heard he had entered a forbidden area was resolved at once.
And also why he had been resisting even under the truth serum.
“So you also think Leocel was murdered.”
“…Yeah. Seems like you think so too.”
Celesto replied in a languid voice.
“If that’s the case, you could’ve just said that from the beginning. That you went somewhere suspicious while investigating Leocel’s death and ended up getting cursed.”
“Because you told me not to get involved.”
Right after answering reflexively under the influence of the d**g, Celesto bit his tongue again.
“Damn it. I can’t believe I’m even saying things like that out loud.”
“You… were worried about me? I’m honestly touched.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? I just didn’t say anything because I thought you’d insist on investigating the ruins with me. And I can’t take you there.”
Honestly, I hadn’t even thought that far.
But hearing that made me a little curious. The place Leocel had been investigating last, and the place where Celesto ended up being cursed with lust.
Still, now that I had learned this much, it didn’t seem like it would be difficult to find out the details of what had happened when he was cursed.
After spilling this much, he’ll probably give up and start explaining it himself.’
So there were other things I needed to find out while the truth serum was still in effect.
A kind of medical questioning that Celesto Castenor would never normally say out loud. Specifically—his symptoms.
To control the intensity of the questioning like before, I decided to start with the most shocking question.
“Can I see the mark of the curse? I didn’t get a proper look last time.”
“Are you crazy?”
“Then I’ll ask something else. Tell me, as best as you can remember, the differences between the symptoms when you first got cursed and the past week.”
“…Even the minor stuff?”
“I’ll decide what counts as minor.”
Celesto let out a long sigh.
“Almost the same….”
His green eyes suddenly met mine. For a brief moment, my reflection appeared in them, and he immediately squeezed his eyes shut.
“…Sometimes I’d get an e******n for no reason. It started then.”
“When? After… you know, after doing that with me?”
“…Yeah.”
Celesto finally answered, pressing the back of his hand against his eyes. For a symptom that wasn’t particularly unusual, his reaction was remarkably dramatic.
Still, since this is after the first time the symptoms calmed down, it’s probably better to note it a bit more carefully.
I rummaged through my pocket and pulled out a note. It was a questionnaire I had prepared for him starting from the day we arranged this meeting.
It was a questionnaire.
“Compared to last time, how strong were the symptoms? Weaker, worse, or about the same?”
“…I don’t really remember when I first got cursed.”
“Then compared to when the symptoms got a bit worse?”
“Compared to that, they were weaker. Except for the constant erections.”
“Hmm.”
I snorted and jotted down a brief note on the paper.
Then, completely naturally—without thinking too much—I continued with the next question.
“In what kind of environment does it happen? Is there a particular time it gets worse? Or any other conditions?”
I asked this because it was related to what I had asked earlier and I wanted to check further.
But Celesto’s reaction was different from what I expected.
“Don’t make me think any further. Otherwise all I’ll do is imagine my d**k between your legs all day.”
“…What?”
“….”
Celesto covered his mouth with the hand he had been pressing against his eyes.
