Chapter 60
I glanced at him and snapped.
“If you’re so bothered, you do it. Want to stay over? There are more bedrooms in this house.”
“…”
Celesto pressed his hand to his forehead.
His skin was visible here and there between his large fingers. His face, which had been flushing red, now turned beyond crimson to a dark shade.
“…If you don’t want to, just say so.”
“No, it’s not… it’s not that.”
Celesto slid his palm down and pressed it firmly over his face.
“…For now. I’ll stay until tomorrow morning.”
“You don’t have to go that far. The bathwater is probably already drawn.”
“Look at the state you’re in and say that! You can’t even hold a bowl properly.”
As if refusing to take no for an answer, Celesto pulled the blanket up to my chin.
Since he wasn’t wrong, I obediently lay in bed and received his care.
Then, I suddenly realized. The clothes I was wearing now were not the loungewear I had on when I greeted Celesto earlier.
A simple design, comfortable fit. It was the robe I usually wore.
“Did you change my clothes too?”
At the question, his green eyes glanced briefly at me.
“…Yeah.”
Celesto answered as if squeezing the words out.
“It was right there when I went into the dressing room. I figured it was something you wore often, so I put it on you.”
“You went into my dressing room too?”
“…”
“Well, I suppose. If I’d slept in those other clothes, I’d probably have caught some new illness. Thank you.”
I said, thinking of the clothes that must have been a mess with bodily fluids.
Even though I hadn’t seen them to the end, I could tell. That the sheer, ribbon-trimmed loungewear must have been covered in s***n.
The amount of fluid I had produced was also considerable, so it must have been quite a sticky mess.
I didn’t ask further about the whereabouts of those clothes. Because I had a near-certain suspicion that Celesto had even laundered them while I was unconscious.
Of course, I was a little worried about whether Celesto, who had only recently even touched a woman’s clothes, let alone taken them off, had managed to remove them without tearing anything…
‘…Wait a minute.’
Only then did something click in my head.
‘So… that means he took off my clothes.’
I glanced at Celesto.
Since it was an outfit fastened with ribbons instead of buttons, actually removing it would have been easy.
So… did he see?
Thinking that, a hot flush rose to my cheeks.
I know it’s strange to be so embarrassed by the thought that he might have seen my bare skin, when we’ve already stared at each other’s lower halves and even rubbed them together.
But imagining Celesto’s hot eyes scanning my naked body made me blush uncontrollably.
Celesto also sat with his head bowed, not moving. Whether my silence made him uncomfortable, or whether he was troubled by similar thoughts, I couldn’t tell.
Still, one thing was certain.
I shouldn’t ask any more.
Not if I didn’t want to suffocate in this awkward atmosphere.
Fortunately, there was a suitable topic to change the subject.
“Celesto Castanor, you’ve really become a decent person. I never would have imagined this from you in the old days.”
“…What are you talking about?”
“You don’t remember? Back in the day, when we were playing in your garden and a shower came…”
“Crazy, what are you bringing up a story from twenty years ago for?”
As if the earlier embarrassment had never happened, Celesto erupted with the force of breathing fire.
When he reacts this well, I can’t help it. I have to tease him to the end.
“From a humanitarian standpoint, you changed my clothes, tucked me in… truly touching. It feels like just yesterday you wouldn’t even lend me a blanket.”
“No, that was… I didn’t know other people were that frail.”
Celesto protested as if wronged.
Among the five sons of Count Castanor, Celesto was the sturdiest child.
As far as I knew, he was also the largest in the family. Even taller than Leocel, who was quite robust for a scholar, by a good handspan.
During his growth spurt, he was so large that I sometimes flinched at the shadow he cast.
Yet there were two reasons I still played with Celesto often.
