Side Story Part VIII
I confessed it all at once.
When dealing with this man, striking first and maintaining momentum was crucial.
“You remember I told you black hellebore is associated with misfortune and death, right? Actually, it’s not a major casting, but it does have a subtle effect.”
“So why are you—”
“Don’t interrupt and listen. Since it’s not a major thing, it should actually work on your family too. It’s not a big curse—just things like tea being too hot and burning your palate.”
“…So what does that have to do with my brother?”
“I’m going to use it on that bastard. He was already insufferable, and now he’s getting in your way.”
“…”
Celesto squeezed his eyes shut.
He was silent for a long time after that, thinking.
Just as I was starting to ponder whether to say something like, ‘I don’t care if you scold me, but could you just let me plant this before the roots die? I just need to transplant it into the flower pot on your brother’s window—’ Celesto’s lips parted.
“You said you were keeping this flower alive so you could use it when you found someone to curse.”
“You mean the black hellebore? Yeah, I did. You remember.”
“And you’re going to use it on my brother? Because he’s getting in my way.”
“Yeah. And he’s annoying, as a person.”
“…”
“Honestly, even when you were kids, that guy was terrible, wasn’t he? He got rid of Leocel and you at the same time. That already pisses me off, and now with the marriage…”
“…Haah.”
At my words, Celesto let out a sigh.
I flinched and shut my mouth.
Meanwhile, Celesto even covered his eyes with that large hand of his. It was a clear gesture of trying to calm something down.
I carefully gauged Celesto’s reaction.
And finally, I spoke.
“…Are you angry?”
It wasn’t strange. Rather, it was natural.
Even though he had spent time with me since childhood, Celesto never really liked it when I did something forbidden.
Of course, that included cursing people.
And on top of that, the target was his family.
No matter how much they had kept him in check and suppressed him, there was no way Celesto, who had lived a life of faith for so long, would welcome this.
If anything, I’d have expected him to be angry.
‘This is why I didn’t say where I was going to use the black hellebore. Well, there was another reason too…’
The longer the silence stretched, the more anxious I felt.
Ah, of course, I wasn’t anxious because of Celesto. I was worried about the black hellebore roots that were probably drying out right now.
It’s not like Celesto would be disappointed in me or lose affection over something like this.
After all, Celesto had seen far too many of my lowest moments.
Once he cooled down, he might even be touched. By the fact that I didn’t just put the flower somewhere where the whole family could be affected, but specifically chose to plant it in his brother’s bedroom.
‘Right… I should probably say something now, shouldn’t I? Like, let’s talk about this after I plant it?’
Having made up my mind, I leaned my back against Celesto’s chest.
But Celesto pulled me away. Still holding my waist, in the same position of having me dangling.
“…Stay still.”
Celesto whispered in my ear, almost growling.
His breath was laden with a heat that hadn’t been there just moments ago.
“…Celesto, are you by any chance—”
“That includes your mouth.”
His low, sinking voice tickled my earlobe.
“Please, just be quiet until I tell you I’m okay. I’m going crazy from how turned on I am.”
“…”
“I can’t even f**k you here. In a place like this.”
Was it because of the metallic edge mixed in his voice? I didn’t even try to ask him, as I usually would, where he learned to talk like that.
Instead, I just silently pondered.
‘Why?’
Why was he aroused? And of all times, this timing, this situation?
I truly couldn’t understand.
I was about to do something you hate, against your own family—and that’s what gets you hard?
