Sebelia felt like she had been in a similar situation before. As she sifted through her thoughts, she suddenly exclaimed, “Ah.”

I was like that at Hillend Hall.

When she wandered around looking for a place where no one would be, and then bumped into Dehart. She had asked him if it was okay to be there, trying not to show how happy she was when he gave his permission, even though it left her feeling a little miserable.

But now the situation is reversed.

Sebelia couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of wonder. As she gazed at Dehart, he flushed red around his neck. Sighing, she realized she didn’t even feel like getting angry anymore.

“You lost something to Maya, didn’t you?”

“What? Ah…”

Dehart blinked, looking slightly disappointed as he tilted his head, seemingly thinking that she had called him for a different reason.

“Here.”

Sebelia pulled the silver cross necklace from her pocket and handed it to him. Dehart stared at it with a conflicted expression, then reached out. For a brief moment, their hands brushed. It felt like the lightest touch, like a petal against skin. Dehart quickly stepped back, shouting.

“Th-thank you. Really. And I’m sorry.”

Before she could respond, he dashed up the stairs to his room.

“Ugh…”

His heart was racing. Dehart felt his entire body flush with warmth as he threw himself onto his bed. It was embarrassing and shameful.

Why am I so happy about something like this?

A wave of guilt followed that thought. But he couldn’t deny the joy he felt. He had actually touched her, even if just for a moment. It was just luck, he thought.

Then, the door suddenly creaked open. Dehart looked up, his eyes filled with expectation.

“……”

Two green eyes glimmered through the gap in the door. A sharp warning sound echoed.

Looking into the emerald eyes, Dehart carefully placed the silver cross necklace he had been holding tightly onto the table. Then, unlike before, he lay back on the bed with a generous and unguarded posture.

Tap.

The soft sound of footsteps echoed through the room.

Claude returned to the research facility later than expected and noticed Dehart, who was acting unusually cheerful. He tilted his head in surprise. Just before he left, Dehart had been sulking like a lost puppy, but now his eyes were sparkling as if he were flying on clouds. It was strange.

“Here, the reply has arrived.”

But it wasn’t unusual for Dehart to act strange anymore. Instead of asking about the reason for his sudden mood change, Claude handed him the letter and documents requested by Eli.

“Hmm.”

Luckily, the soaring mood of Dehart dropped quickly when he received the workload. Claude was about to leave but Dehart stopped him.

“Stay for a moment.”

“Is it alright?”

Remembering his earlier words about receiving concern but not advice, Claude responded a little curtly. Dehart, after putting down the letter he had finished reading, picked up the documents and gave a small chuckle.

“Such a narrow mind.”

“You.”

“I have a question about Limms.”

Interrupting Claude, Dehart asked. Claude frowned, crossing his arms. He almost considered brushing him off, but then decided against it. It was only embarrassing to put up his pride with his nephew.

“What is it?”

“I know he’s a famous sword collector, but I’m not sure how far his collection goes. Does he even reach back to relics from the Mythic Age?”

Dehart flicked the papers with his fingers. Recently, after establishing contact with Hillend Hall, he had received news from Ryan that traps were being prepared by Limms.

“Are you talking about something like the Sword of Equitia?”

At Dehart’s words, Claude straightened up and asked. Dehart didn’t know exactly what that was, but he nodded anyway.

“Ha, of course, he’s obsessed with it. Limms, even twenty years ago, was after the royal treasures. Talking about swords covered in jewels, with a dull blade, like an idiot’s weapon.”

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s actually usable. He’s obsessed with rarity and reputation, right?”

It looks like we can proceed as planned. Dehart smirked. Ryan and he were planning to create fake artifacts and sell them in the black market, where Limms often appeared. For that, Ryan had already arranged for a skilled blacksmith to help them.

“Thanks for the good information.”

At Claude’s cheerful response, he sighed and shook his head. Just as he was about to leave the room, a wave of disturbance started to sweep through the mansion.

“…?!”

The first to sense it was Dehart. He quickly rushed to the window and looked outside. There was smoke rising from the woods near the lakeside. At this rate, it was only a matter of time before the fire would reach the mansion.

“Claude, go downstairs and get Sebelia, and evacuate immediately.”

Flames danced in Dehart’s golden eyes, which were as cold and sharp as metal.
