Sebelia walked calmly, listening to Dehart’s footsteps trailing behind her. Instead of taking the staircase Eli had used, she deliberately headed toward the stairs at the end of the hallway.

The reason, of course, was to show the servants their presence. Dehart, following behind her like a large dog with its leash loosened, asked impatiently with a voice full of anxiety.

“Can’t you listen to me, just for the rest of the way?”

“What is it that you want to talk about? Tell me, and I’ll decide if it’s worth listening to.”

“At Baron Suffredi’s house…”

“If it’s that topic, then forget it. I’m not curious.”

“Bella.”

Sebelia, who had brushed her golden hair behind her ear, glanced back. For a moment, Dehart lost himself, but hearing Sebelia’s voice, took him back to reality.

“Duke.”

“Yes.”

“Don’t you think this moment is rather strange?”

Her whisper was faint, like mist. Her blue eyes seemed to be searching into his.

“What?”

“It seems like you can’t hear well. Then, you should lower your head.”

Her voice was so soft that it would be hard to hear unless you paid close attention. However, for some reason, it was clear to Dehart. His golden eyes widened.

As he stood there dazedly, Sebelia took a step closer and lightly grabbed his coat. The touch was so gentle that there was no pressure, yet Dehart, following her unspoken command, bent his waist.

The proximity was close enough to feel her breath. Under the warm sunlight, her blue eyes looked at him, and her beautifully smiling face shone. In the hallway, Dehart felt an odd sense of floating.

Though servants passed by in the background, his senses were solely focused on her and himself.

It felt as if it were just the two of them, separated from the rest of the world.

At this moment, only they were real. Everything else was just fleeting dust. In this world, only the two of them existed.

“Bel, la…”

As Dehart struggled to keep his chest from swelling with emotion, his lips parted. A smile lingered on her blue eyes, but a cold frost fell over them.

“Ha…”

With a crack, the soft, sweet air surrounding them shattered, like glass breaking.

“I really find you fascinating, Dehart.”

A sharp dagger seemed to pierce through the smile, coming from between her plump lips.

“You should have knelt down and begged me to at least listen to you once, but you shamelessly follow me around, effortlessly making excuses for yourself.”

“…!”

“I don’t know if I need to go over every word you’ve said, but… I guess I’ll have to since it’s beneficial to me.”

Sebelia muttered cryptically, releasing her grip on his collar. She dusted off her hands as if brushing off a speck of dust, then smiled and whispered.

“Alright, I’ll listen to your excuses.”

“Bella.”

Dehart called her name with a choked voice. Sebelia shook her head, then said with a sweet, gentle smile.

“Of course, I hope it’s something ‘worth interrupting my time for.'”

Her softly spoken words didn’t reach the ears of the servants observing them from a distance, but it was enough to pierce Dehart’s heart.

[I hope it’s something worth interrupting my time for.]

“Ah.”

The weight of his own actions returned to haunt him, once again aiming a sharp blade at him. The blood dripping down the pale skin was unmistakable. Blinking his eyes in shock, he quickly realized the answer.

“Bella.”

Had you been in this much pain too?

But there wasn’t much time to wallow in his suffering. Panting, Dehart forced himself to move forward. He followed Sebelia, who had walked away from him, swallowing the shame and pain that gnawed at him inside.

As he dragged his feet behind her, Sebelia slowly closed and opened her blue eyes.

It’s not just simple guilt.

If it were, his eyes wouldn’t look so pained, as if his heart were being torn apart. Sebelia swallowed a bitter laugh, her hands clenched into fists.

After seeing him injured in the valley, she had begun to explore the roots of his despair and regret. Was he being swayed by guilt alone, or was it the sense of loss from someone who had once filled his life but then disappeared?

Or maybe…

Ironically, it’s because you’ve kept me in your heart all this time.
