Sebelia knew that the Palace had originally been the Empress’ residence, not a place meant for a prince. Shateian must have fought hard to claim it.

Walking through the corridors, Sebelia felt Shateian’s care and affection for the Empress in the traces she had left throughout the palace. To her surprise, she found herself feeling a twinge of melancholy.

Had she still not let go of her feelings for her mother? She trudged along the hallway in a daze. After a short while, Shateian came to a stop.

“Before we enter, there’s something I should tell you.”

He turned around smoothly with a soft smile on his face. Dehart looked on with a frown, unimpressed, but Shateian’s gaze was fixed solely on Sebelia.

“In fact, the guest I want you to meet requested a private audience.”

“Bella, I think we should turn back now.”

Dehart said, stepping in before Sebelia could respond.

“Why didn’t you say from the start that this was your goal, Your Highness? We could have avoided a wasted trip.”

“That wasn’t the only reason. The Emperor has taken a great interest in what happened that day. Who wouldn’t be concerned that the dead walked upon the land of the living?”

Shateian shrugged, unfazed by the imposing black figure now filling the hallway.

“My only aim was to consider the Lady’s feelings. Whatever anyone else may think, it was a shocking sight. There’s no need to make the person involved relive it unnecessarily.”

He said this with a languid smile.

“Her faithful representative is right here with her, after all.”

In other words, he was implying that he would spend time with Dehart, while Sebelia would meet the guest separately.

Dehart couldn’t help but find the situation absurd. Shateian, with his casual confidence, continued with an air of nonchalance.

“Very well. If you have questions about that day, direct them to me in writing.”

With a cold rebuke, Dehart was about to leave with Sebelia and Claude when she spoke up.

“Your Highness, why do you believe that this guest will be of help to me?”

“Bella.”

Sebelia raised her hand to stop Dehart and stepped forward. Shateian’s eyes, filled with interest, studied her closely. In that instant, Sebelia suspected that the guest might not be just any illusionist.

He wouldn’t bring me all the way here for such a trivial reason.

It made sense in hindsight. If he truly wanted the illusionist present, he could have simply brought him out from the start. But Shateian deliberately chose a more complicated approach.

Sebelia’s blue eyes quietly passed over Shateian, resting on the door behind him. Whoever was behind that firmly closed door was certainly not an ordinary person.

But at the same time, they are supposed to help me.

Who could it be? And why did the Second Prince want this meeting so badly? Questions bubbled in Sebelia’s mind. Then Shateian’s melodic voice echoed through the corridor.

“You weren’t the only one enraged at the exhibition that day.”

“What do you mean…”

“I mean ‘her,’ brought by Nathan Wheddon.”

Shateian said, mentioning her mother. Sebelia’s face stiffened. She held her breath as Dehart’s eyes turned fierce. Shateian stepped aside, as if wary of an excited beast.

“I told you, I said they would be of help to you.”

He said, tapping the door lightly with the back of his hand. His lowered voice sent a chill through Sebelia’s ears.

“Decide, Bella Appenz. Will you turn away from the truth and live a comfortable life, or will you once again cast yourself into the storm?”

“…”

Her hesitation didn’t last long. Sebelia stepped forward with determination, her wave-like blue eyes leaving trails of icy clarity as they moved.

“Bella, are you certain?”

“I was fine even in that chaos.”

“That…Ha.”

“I will accept your offer, Your Highness.”

Sebelia arrived at the door and turned to Shateian.

“I must see who exactly holds the same anger as I do.”

Looking at the audacious look, as if commanding him to open the door, Shateian swallowed a small smile.

Her angry expression looks just like Balak’s. Shateian, pleased by this observation, laid his hand on the doorknob. A moment of amusement such as this could not be entrusted to a servant.

“Now, enjoy your time.”

He said, giving her a light push. In the blink of an eye, Sebelia was inside the reception room. As she adjusted to the soft light filling the space, a trembling voice called out.

“Miss Bella, Bella Appenz?”

A man with dark blue hair and sky-blue eyes got up from his seat, his expression on the verge of tears.
