A heat, before she could even properly grasp the situation she was in. The timing couldn’t have been worse.
She couldn’t clearly tell whether this was reality.
She still found it difficult to accept that she had returned to the past.
But the heat of the cycle consuming her body felt vividly real.
Ellia placed a hand on the nape of her neck.
Her body, which had begun to burn with heat, was even hotter than her hand.
For now, dealing with the heat cycle immediately before her had to come first.
‘Remember, Ellia. What happened three years ago?’
Ellia desperately racked her brain.
With everything happening so suddenly, trying to recall what had happened in the distant past left her thoughts in disarray. Perhaps because she was impatient, or because her mind was still such a mess, she vaguely remembered what had happened then, but the memories were unclear, as though veiled in fog.
“A suppressant… I definitely took one.”
At the time, Ellia had already known that her heat was approaching.
She kept meticulous track of her cycle.
The funeral had happened to coincide perfectly with her heat cycle, so she had definitely taken a suppressant.
With so many mourners expected to attend, a suppressant had been essential.
There was no way she would have knowingly attended a gathering crawling with alphas without taking one when her heat cycle was approaching. That would have been madness.
‘I took more than enough before attending the funeral.’
Then she remembered that the suppressant hadn’t worked properly.
Even while the funeral was underway, she had been the first to notice that something was wrong.
She had felt a strange heat coursing through her entire body.
As soon as she realized it was her heat, she had excused herself and fled the funeral hall.
That was what had happened at Adit’s funeral three years ago.
‘Right. Just like I ran away a moment ago.’
Back then, she had fled to her room in the royal palace.
She had locked the door and taken the spare suppressant she had kept there.
But unlike in the past, she hadn’t gone toward her room this time.
Confused by the sudden situation, she had left simply to get away and wandered into the rear garden without thinking.
‘Should I go back to the palace?’
Ellia looked behind her. But she soon shook her head.
‘It’s too late to go back now.’
More importantly, regardless of whether this truly was the past, the heat of the cycle ravaging her entire body was real.
Whether this was reality, an extension of a dream, or whether she had simply lost her mind could be dealt with later.
Ellia anxiously looked around.
Her pheromones were already slipping beyond her control.

Her frantic hand found the pouch tied inside the folds of her dress.
It contained a suppressant she had kept in reserve for an emergency.
Overcome with relief, Ellia pulled out the pouch with trembling hands.
Her heart dropped for a moment at how flat and light it felt, but when she turned it over and shook it, fortunately, one suppressant pill remained inside.
‘I’ll take this first.’
Ellia tilted her head back to place it in her mouth.
At that moment, her vision spun.
Apart from the heat surging through her body, dizziness made her lightheaded.
Come to think of it, at this point in time, she had stopped eating and drinking after Adit’s death.
She had cried until she was nearly dehydrated, and her ladies-in-waiting had wrung their hands and begged her to eat something, anything at all.
She had been so devastated by Adit’s death that even swallowing a sip of water had been difficult.
After running halfway through the rear garden in that condition, it was no wonder her body had suddenly given out.
The world seemed to turn upside down, and Ellia staggered.
She hurriedly reached out and braced herself against the palace wall, narrowly avoiding a fall.
But she dropped the suppressant she had been holding.

Realizing what had happened, she urgently reached for it, but it was already too late.
The suppressant had fallen onto the wet grass and disappeared from sight.

Forgetting all decorum, Ellia dropped to the ground.
Dirty mud stained her dress and coated her palms, but that didn’t matter.
She frantically searched for the suppressant she had dropped.
‘Please. Please.’
Her sky-blue eyes shook with anxiety.
Her heart pounded wildly.
The heat spreading throughout her body was growing more intense.
“Ahh……”
To make matters worse, pheromones instinctively seeking an alpha began to flow from her entire body.
