Discarded clothing traced a path toward the bedroom.

The moment her back touched the bed, Si-heon positioned himself above her, their connection deep and profound.

Soft whispers and gentle sighs filled the room. Their bodies moved in a delicate, synchronized rhythm, each touch laden with unspoken emotions—longing, tenderness, and a desperate need to reconnect after weeks apart.

“Wait, just a moment…” she breathed.

“Hmm..”

“Yes?” he responded, burying his face in her neck, inhaling her familiar, comforting scent.

During his entire business trip, he had yearned for this—her real presence, not some pale imitation. No substitute could ever compare to her.

Their intertwined hands—his large and strong, hers delicate and pale—spoke of a connection far deeper than physical intimacy.

“We’re going to the meeting,” he murmured.

“Yes…” she responded, her voice a soft, vulnerable whisper.

Their movements were a language of their own—a promise, a reconciliation, a reaffirmation of their bond.

Their intertwined hands remained locked, clutching each other with an intensity that spoke volumes of their unspoken connection, refusing to let go for what seemed like an eternity.

The next afternoon.

The meeting place was a café located in Seongsu-dong, operated by one of the members of the Jinri Association. “To decorate an abandoned building with such a sensory touch. As expected, Seo Yun’s aesthetic is truly something else,” one voice remarked. “Indeed. This is far from the commonplace industrial interior. This is the quintessential industrial style, perfectly executed!” The early arrivals laughed and chatted, their eyes and thoughts, however, were entirely focused on Si-heon and Ga-eun.

“Looking at them now, it’s finally starting to feel real,”

“Right? They’re actually married.”

The murmurs continued, noting how Si-heon tenderly attended to Ga-eun, carefully filling her water glass.

“Why don’t you go and talk to them?” another suggested. “Just a moment. Let me catch my breath.”

Since his marriage, Si-heon had made it a point to attend gatherings only with his wife, a practice that had gradually transformed most social events into couple-centered affairs. Jin Wu-hyeon, accompanied by his maternal cousin Lee Yu-mi, entered with a gentle smile.

“It’s even more delightful to see you here, Si-heon. And you too, sister-in-law.”

Just as Ga-eun was about to respond, Si-heon interrupted, his face impassive as he set down his water glass. “Wu-hyeon,” he said with a measured tone, “where exactly is your sister-in-law?”

“Oh, that’s… well…” Wu-hyeon stammered.

“Unless I’m my father’s illegitimate child, I cannot be your younger brother,” Si-heon’s words cut through the room like a blade of ice.

“It was just a friendly expression…” Wu-hyeon tried to explain, his voice trembling.

“Friendliness?”
Si-heon’s gaze, dark and penetrating, silenced Wu-hyeon mid-sentence.

“The reason I let it slide at the last evening gathering was…” his voice, low and heavy, became a metaphorical noose that suffocated the atmosphere.

“…because I didn’t think that damned title was appropriate for addressing my wife.”

The moment their eyes met, Wu-hyeon and everyone around them froze, suspended in the electric tension of Si-heon’s quiet, devastating confrontation.

“Wasn’t that the case?”
Si-heon’s rhetorical question hung in the air, a final, devastating punctuation to his territorial declaration of love and protection.
