Chapter 98
But Si-jung Kwon’s ordeal wasn’t over yet.
“There are several issues with Department Head Kwon Si-jung’s aggressive push for the apartment development plan in the Hongpo region’s initial site.”
When it was his turn to present, Si-heon began ruthlessly attacking him.
“It requires the release of school grounds, which means changing the land use classification. However, I’ve heard that with residents’ opposition, Hongpo City is reluctant to take action.”
“Th-that will be resolved step by step…!”
“Along with the city’s position against converting green space to residential use, artifacts from the Baekje period were discovered a week ago.”
Si-jung’s expression showed he’d been caught off guard.
“Department Head Kwon knew about this early on but tried to cover it up while forcefully pushing the project forward.”
“That’s not true!”
“Has an agreement been reached with Hongpo City?”
“We’re currently in discussions. We’re doing our utmost to secure cooperation so Hwanhee Construction can establish a large complex at the initial site…”
“Soon, Hongpo City Mayor Kim Do-il will be summoned on charges of accepting bribes from two or three construction companies.”
At Si-heon’s words, everyone in the meeting, including Si-jung, was left slack-jawed.
“Let’s hope Hwanhee Construction isn’t mentioned as one of those two or three companies.”
“Is-is that information reliable? Using unverified rumors about a politician to ruin a smoothly progressing project…”
“Well. Looking at past records, I’d say the one ruining smoothly progressing projects isn’t me, but Department Head Kwon.”
I told you. You’re screwed today because of your dim-witted wife.
As Si-jung’s face turned red under Si-heon’s gaze that seemed to say exactly that, just as he was about to speak-
“Hmm.”
When Chairman Kwon Soon-yeol showed signs of discomfort, the conference room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
“I had such high expectations for this Hongpo initial district project. What a disappointment.”
“Grandfather, please listen to my…”
As Si-jung spoke with a desperate expression, Chairman Kwon Soon-yeol’s thunderous reprimand came down.
“How dare you address me with such a title!”
His deep, thick voice resonated fiercely through the room, not an exaggeration to call it a roar.
“Managing Director Kwon will take over and conclude the initial district project.”
“Yes, Chairman.”
“Department Head Kwon, you’re off the project.”
“Ch-Chairman!”
“Hwanhee Construction is the foundation of Hwanhee Group. My deep attachment to this company should be evident from my attendance at every general meeting. A mighty wall begins to crumble from a tiny ant hole.”
Chairman Kwon Soon-yeol delivered his cold rebuke.
“Don’t undertake projects beyond your capability! I despise headaches.”
What followed was nothing short of an interrogation about all the projects under Si-jung’s management.
But Si-heon’s mood remained dark.
He kept picturing Ga-eun sitting quietly like a white flower swaying in the wind before the fierce and rough Jung Yeo-jin.
Even as the end of the workday approached, Ga-eun wouldn’t leave his thoughts.

“You’re early. Even though you said you’d come down early.”
As soon as the car door closed, Si-heon turned his head from staring straight ahead at Ga-eun’s words.
“I heard Kwon Si-jung’s wife came.”
“Yes.”
“What did she say?”
“Nothing much.”
Si-heon’s eyes narrowed.
“Nothing much.”
“Yes. She said she came to visit because we’re family and haven’t seen each other since the wedding.”
“That can’t be all.”
In his words, Ga-eun spoke in a quiet voice.
“Didn’t you say you dislike having things repeated?”
“And yet.”
“I thought you would have already heard from Director Myung Hyun-ju. Should I say it again? Though it seems like a waste of time.”
Si-heon’s dark eyes turned cold.
“I’ll be the judge of that.”
