She would never understand.

The depth of her own deafening inner landscape, how profoundly she was unraveling herself. Ga-eun haunted his thoughts throughout the entire workday, a persistent specter he couldn’t shake. Even hearing mentions of a child in the morning only sank his mood, without triggering the splitting headache he might have expected.

He felt as if he was becoming increasingly tethered to Ga-eun, inexorably bound.

Because of this, Si-heon’s nerves were honed razor-sharp.

“I’ll make all the decisions,” he declared coldly.

Silence.

“Don’t overstep, Ga-eun,” he warned, his gaze fixed on her pale, elegant neck where his handkerchief was delicately knotted.

“I mean, don’t diminish your own worth. Consider carefully whose advantage this contract serves, and whose it compromises.”

Yes, you are the one who is subordinate.

Not me.

The one who must cling more desperately, who must bend and submit and frantically accommodate—that’s you.

This was the natural order of life.

And so it must always remain.

“I understand,” Ga-eun whispered, bowing her head like a subservient vendor negotiating with a massive corporate client—precisely the image she had always desperately desired.

Yet, why did her heart feel so unsettled?

Si-heon furrowed his brow. Something about Ga-eun’s presence was making him feel increasingly disoriented. But he couldn’t distance himself either.

Seizing the momentary hesitation from Kwon Si-jung, Si-heon needed to forge ahead, create distance, maintain his peak performance—and for that, he needed Ga-eun.

By nightfall, he would inevitably return to her side.

“Fasten your seatbelt,”.

The moment Ga-eun secured her safety belt, Si-heon pressed the accelerator, his expression unyielding.

Throughout the journey, Ga-eun remained silent, sitting rigidly, her gaze fixed resolutely forward.

She didn’t even ask where they were going. She would simply follow wherever Si-heon led.

Resignation was familiar. It always has been.

Since leaving Byeolnaeri Village, she had long ago realized that no ‘family’ anywhere would ever respect her wishes.

What difference would a husband make?

‘What was I even expecting?’

Ga-eun quietly exhaled, as if releasing the stagnant emotions pooled inside her.

***

They arrived at a famous eel restaurant.

As overtly suggested by the menu, They would inevitably entwine their bodies together after returning home.

Naturally. Kwon Si-heon wanted nothing from her except s-x.

“Ah…!”

She didn’t want to make a sound, but every time Si-heon’s red tongue deeply licked inside her, unconscious moans escaped. Worried this might irritate him, Ga-eun covered her mouth with the back of her hand.

Si-heon, his face buried between her legs, licked his glistening lips and moved upward.

“I never told you to hold back.”
“Ahhh”

With his big hand, he pinned both of her slender wrists above her, looking into her eyes as he pushed himself inside.

Her delicate brow furrowed at the overwhelming pleasure that felt like her body was splitting apart.

“I said, don’t hold back.”

“Heu…Ah!”

As if her moan was a signal, Si-heon thrust ruthlessly without mercy from the start.

A white flower trembling in a strong wind.

Delicate, soft, fragrant.

So easily torn.

“Ah…!”

Ga-eun’s head tilted back. Her body trembled, her breath ragged.

“Ha… ha…Ahh”

“Hoo…”

Burying his face in her neck, Si-heon gazed down at her parted lips before pulling back.

“Ung…”

Her body shuddered as something that had filled her completely withdrew.

“Secretary Myung will soon explain about Jinri Society. Engage actively.”

After saying his piece, he without hesitation headed to the bathroom. Ga-eun weakly closed her eyes.

The time to endure the weight of being Kwon Si-heon’s wife was about to truly begin.

***

“Everyone knows, of course. This is Ga-eun from the Hwanhee Art Museum, senior manager and wife of Kwon Si-heon, executive and eldest grandson of Hwanhee Group’s Chairman Kwon Soon-yeol.”

Ga-eun clasped her hands together and bowed her head.

“I’m Gye Ga-eun. Please take care of me.”

Yang Ji-seon, a core member of Jinri Society, raised her hand adorned with a chunky ring.

“We should welcome her. Come on, applause?”

Clap. Clap. A few halfhearted claps sounded before dying out.

On her first day, sitting next to the chairwoman was the unspoken rule of Jinri Society.
