Chapter 147
The castle, shrouded in darkness, was silent.
The royal palace, now lifeless and devoid of vigor, resembled the corpse of a colossal giant. And the rebels—no, the revolutionaries—were adventurers scaling its remains.
‘Stay calm.’
Count Brienne, brimming with excitement, anxiously licked his lips.
The forces he had gathered numbered around 500 to 600. With so many noble houses joining hands, he had been able to recruit knights, soldiers, and even mercenaries.
With this many men, even if the King were still alive, they stood a chance.
That is, if everyone else was truly dead.
To assess the situation, he had sent out reconnaissance squads and was now waiting in a secure location. The plan was to advance only if they returned with their heads still attached.
The scouts had split into three groups to thoroughly sweep the castle… If they were safe, then surely, all would be well.
‘If anything goes wrong, I can still retreat from here.’
Hurry back. Hurry!
How long had he waited, his bloodshot eyes filled with restless anticipation?
At last, the first group returned—wearing utterly bewildered expressions.
“There was no one in the eastern wing. It’s as if they all vanished into thin air. Just in case, we checked the doors, searched the kitchen, even went through the storerooms, but there was nothing.”
“…What? If they died, there should be corpses. Why aren’t there any?”
“That’s what we’re wondering as well.”
“You useless fools!”
A few minutes later, the western reconnaissance team returned—only to report the same thing.
No one was there. It was completely empty. As if they had all vanished into the sky or sunk into the earth.
But that made no sense. There had been over a thousand desert warriors.
How could they all be gone?
‘The last team. The ones who went to check on the King and Queen. They need to return.’
The central team had been tasked with searching the throne room, the ballroom, and the gardens. They had the highest chance of encountering the King directly.
Time crawled forward, sobering him enough to make his body shiver. The darkness deepened, and an owl’s eerie cry echoed through the night.
At last, the central team rushed back.
“The banquet hall is filled with fallen warriors! The King is seated on the throne with the Queen. We couldn’t confirm for certain, but from a distance, they appeared to be dead!”
“Advance at once!”
Count Brienne leaped up, clenching and unclenching his pale fists.
The time for a decision had come.
Would he retreat and become a laughingstock, or press forward and seize what he desired?
The answer… was already decided.
Yasamin was spending a rather enjoyable time, holding his wife in his arms.
Truthfully, had it not been for the amusement of teasing Siren, he would have stormed out hours ago to personally behead this so-called Brienne or whatever his name was.
‘A pathetic little man dares challenge the throne?’
If he was going to make a move, he should hurry up and do it.
He had nearly died of boredom, but he managed to endure—thanks to Siren.
He sucked on Siren’s earlobe for a long time while teasing her n****e at the same time.
“Haa… Ah… Ah!”
“I’m not putting it in. Not until that bastard arrives.”
“Aah… You’re awful, hngh!”
“I know. But put up with this much at least. I’m holding myself back from going out there and killing them all right now.”
With a chuckle, he bit her earlobe and blew a warm breath into it, making Siren tremble violently. He could already feel how soaked she was down below.
A mere thin layer of fabric was nowhere near enough to hold it back, so she was probably going insane.
But there was nothing to be done.
He wanted to deal with Count Brienne quickly and head straight to bed, but the bastard was taking his sweet time.
So, the only thing left to do was to lavish her with more caresses.
“For this rebellion to be legitimate, they need to make it all the way here… Just hold out a little longer, love. Alright?”
“Haa, ngh! Ah!”
“If you really can’t hold it in, grind against my thigh. How about that?”
If she pressed her swollen c******s against his thigh and rubbed herself against it, she could reach o****m. He was offering to let her do just that.
How very generous of him.
Of course, to Siren, it was pure madness.
Even if they were the only ones in this throne room!
Even the moans she barely managed to suppress echoed loudly—how could she possibly do something like that?
“Ah, looks like they’re finally getting closer. But aren’t they creeping up a little too slowly…? Looks like you’ll have to hold on a bit longer, my love.”
At that moment, Yasamin caught a sound with his sharpened senses. The synchronized movement of hundreds of feet.
Making such an obvious racket while entering—did they really think moving this sluggishly would help them avoid detection?
Humans were endlessly baffling.
