Chapter 148
Clicking his tongue, he buried his nose against the nape of Siren’s neck, inhaling deeply. A heady scent filled his senses. She was practically begging him to take her right then and there, and naturally, he had been hard for quite some time now.
If he thrust in, he would sink into her in an instant, yet he couldn’t. And so, a part of his mind gradually turned a deep shade of red.
“Haa.”
Letting out a deep sigh, he kissed her noisily, making Siren tremble uncontrollably.
‘Ah… I’m going to go insane.’
To be fair, things hadn’t been this way from the beginning.
The original plan was to ensnare the rebels’ minds using large-scale illusion magic. Yasamin was the core of that spell, which was why he needed to remain in the throne room.
That much, Siren had understood.
She had only followed him out of curiosity, wondering exactly how the spell was cast…
And yes, it had been beautiful. Even she had never seen a Raksha formation woven with such exquisite intricacy.
Yasamin, who had mastered Raksha for a thousand years, surpassed her in both technical prowess and artistry.
Being a god did not mean there was nothing left to learn—on the contrary, there was much she could still gain from him.
‘And yet… This is how things turned out.’
When the scouting party arrived and peeked inside, Siren had to struggle to the utmost to keep them from realizing she was alive. If Yasamin hadn’t deliberately traced slow, tantalizing lines down her back, she might not have survived the ordeal.
Clinging to him with all her strength, she could feel him laughing.
Of course, the humans hadn’t noticed a thing.
Hundreds of corpses conjured by his magic had already overwhelmed them. They had been tricked into believing they were all dead. And even if they hadn’t, well, they would simply report what they had seen.
“Well then, shall we light things up?”
Yasamin, murmuring in a low voice, snapped his fingers.
At last, the end of this tedious wait.
It had felt like sluggishly turning the pages of a book he had no desire to read just to get to this point.
“O ruthless false king, descend from your throne and humbly accept your blade!”
Bang!
Count Brienne flung the doors open and made his grand entrance. It was nothing short of ridiculous. The soldiers and knights trailing behind him in a sausage-like line were no different.
Yasamin remained still. He did not open his eyes, did not even breathe. Silent and unmoving.
He simply wanted to see what they would do.
“…I-Is he dead?”
Count Brienne stammered in a manner no different from that of a jester.
Yasamin, unable to hold it in any longer, burst into laughter.
“……!”
“Ah, this is killing me. Humans really are amusing. Why do they shorten their own lifespans by gazing longingly at trees they can never climb? Their lives are already fleeting as it is.”
“W-What?!”
“There’s nothing wrong with simply living as you were given. Why make it so complicated?”
His next words were indifferent.
After all, he had witnessed this sort of thing countless times over the past thousand years.
Those who could not be satisfied with what they had, who succumbed to their own greed. The arrogant and the reckless—what they did never changed.
It was baffling how they repeated the same mistakes over and over. At first, he had entertained the idea of listening to what they had to say, but not anymore.
“Love, close your eyes and cover your ears.”
Boom! Kraaash!
Explosions erupted in the distance, far from the castle. Flames shot up into the sky.
The desert warriors he had sent out in advance had finally begun their assault.
The moment he snapped his fingers, the signal would reach the captains of each squad.
“W-What?! What is that?!”
The panicked nobles murmured amongst themselves, turning their heads in all directions.
Yasamin had never seen a rebellion more pitiful.
“The sound of your estates burning.”
He responded with a blank expression, and behind him, two heads fell to the ground, mouths still moving in silent shock.
And with that, the slaughter began.
There was no better way to quench his lust than by turning it into bloodlust.
That didn’t mean he had to kill everyone here.
As long as he removed their leaders, the rest would submit on their own.
Siren, too, had recovered about 80% of her divinity and no longer trembled at the mere sight of human deaths.
“Aaagh!”
“Fight! Fight, damn it!”
“We can’t win against that—run!!!”
“Gahk!”
It was utter chaos.
The fleeing and the fallen tangled together, tripping over one another in a complete disaster.
Yasamin targeted only those dressed in the finest garments, swiftly cutting them down before tilting his head slightly.
“Anyone else?”
If there were more, they had better come forward now instead of causing trouble later.
That way, he could deal with them all at once.
But silence filled the air.
It was already clear who the victor was.
Outside, the southern warriors he had deployed in advance were surrounding the nobles’ estates, looting them at will.
Yasamin had no intention of letting this golden opportunity slip away.
He planned to scrape up every last coin and take it all back to the south.
“…I surrender.”
One quick-witted noble abandoned everything and fell to his knees.
The world was ablaze, bright enough to turn this dark night into daylight.
And only Yasamin could bring this madness to an end.
Looking down at those kneeling before him, he let another two hours pass.
Not until they had stripped even the last gold bar from the mansion’s hidden corners.
A flawless victory.
