Experiencing it with someone she cared about might have made it feel different.
Maya reflected on Tristan’s words.
“Maya, during our marriage, I won’t be interested in anyone else.”
Those words remained stuck in her mind.
Tristan hadn’t added anything further.
A contract husband who was so faithful to the terms and considerate towards her.
‘I should do my part faithfully too.’
It was time to discuss increasing the intensity of their contact with the somewhat lukewarm Tristan.
Recalling what she needed to say to Tristan, Maya clenched her fist.
Tristan felt an inexplicable sense of unease seeing Maya’s determined expression.
‘What on earth is she thinking?’
He was worried she might bring up his ‘future wife’ again, like last time.
The carriage passed through the bustling streets of the capital and entered an alley. As they moved away from the long row of shops, a large mansion came into view.
Among the many branching paths, the carriage took a side road leading to the northern forest.
The bright lights of the mansion in the distance gradually approached.
Passing through the forest path, they saw a mansion softly illuminated by gentle lights.
“Wow….”
“This is a perfectly sized mansion for my presence.”
White Dragon, popping out at Maya’s exclamation, looked pleased at the sight of the tidy mansion.
Though smaller than the castle in the north, it was much larger than the Pendragon estate.
As the carriage stopped and they entered, people lined up neatly, and someone ran forward.
“Lord Tristan!”
An elderly woman, seeing Tristan and Maya standing beside him, bowed her head in greeting.
“Welcome, Lady Maya. I am Doshen, the caretaker of the Bayarden manor in the capital.”
‘She seems like a really nice person.’
Maya felt that this woman would listen to anything she said. She felt strongly that Doshen was someone of the same kind as Tristan.
“I have prepared the honeymoon suite for the two of you. Please, go and get some rest.”
“I asked you to prepare separate rooms.”
Despite Tristan’s words, Doshen’s smiling face reflected the wisdom of many years.
“That’s impossible. As a married couple, you should be together.”
“Doshen, as I’ve said repeatedly, we need to take things slowly….”
Tristan spoke with a hint of embarrassment, but Doshen was resolute.
“What can be done about a room that’s already prepared? If needed, we can change it tomorrow. Preparing a new room now is too much.”
It was clear she wouldn’t back down.
“I’m fine with it.”
Seeing that their argument might go on, Maya intervened.
She had no objection to sharing a room with Tristan.
‘This might actually be a good opportunity.’
If increasing contact with Tristan was necessary, there was no better way than sharing a room.
It would be silly for Tristan to argue further when Maya herself was fine with it.
In the end, Tristan nodded at Doshen’s words.
Doshen smiled with satisfaction.
“You’ve got yourself a wonderful wife, Lord Tristan.”
Tristan, unable to refute that, sighed.
“By the way, what’s the relationship between Doshen and Tristan?”
“She was my nursemaid when I was a child.”
Maya let out a small exclamation at Tristan’s explanation.
It was hard to imagine someone who knew Tristan’s childhood.
Doshen quickly interjected from the side.
“Feel free to contact me if you need anything, Lady Maya. I remember all of Lord Tristan’s embarrassing moments.”
“Embarrassing moments? That’s quite harsh, Doshen.”
“Even the Grand Duke was once a cute child.”
Doshen laughed, countering Tristan’s words.
It was completely different from when he was with Butler Robert.
On the other hand, Maya was curious.
‘What was Tristan like as a child?’
She imagined he was as perfect as he is now.
I’m curious.
“I’ll visit you later.”
“An excellent decision.”
Doshen winked at Maya.
“We should stop talking about this and go eat first.”
Seeing the exchanged glances between the two, Tristan shook his head.
Then, he used the best strategy to change the situation: turning Maya’s attention to food.

The food at the manor was also to Maya’s liking.
‘There was nothing I liked to eat at House Pendragon.’
It seemed the issue wasn’t Maya’s picky taste but rather House Pendragon itself.
After eating and enjoying a luxurious bath in warm water, Maya headed to the room she would share with Tristan.
