At Magnus’s call, a knight appeared from outside. Eir finally looked around through the open door and realized she was in an old inn.

Instead of untying Eir’s arms bound behind her back, the knight roughly grabbed her and raised her body.

“Where are you taking me?”

Seeing that they clearly weren’t going to release her, she violently resisted, twisting her captured body, and Magnus irritably answered:

“Obviously, I’m going to hand you over to the kind you betrayed. They’re quite desperate to catch you.”

He then proudly listed out how much help he would receive after handing her over to the witches. He seemed to think that it wasn’t him receiving help from the witches, but rather the witches receiving his help.

Eir knew well how the mind of someone like him worked.

There was an unfilled void deep in his heart, and as he kept denying it, he tried to fill his confidence from strange places, resulting in such boastful attitudes.

Knowing that lecturing him would only make him say she was jealous, Eir urgently raised her head.

“Hey! I’m not a witch!”

Magnus gestured to the knight with an annoyed expression, as if to say hurry up and take her away.

The knight bowed and turned to drag Eir away. But just then, Eir’s hands glowed white with divine power, and the knight who witnessed it hesitated.

“Lord Magnus.”

At the soft call, Magnus turned around. Eir realized her appearance—hands tied behind her back while emitting light—might look ridiculous, but she desperately waved her hands.

“Y-you can touch it if you want. This is real divine power!”

Magnus frowned, then approached her as if entranced. As he slowly reached out his hand, he suddenly seemed to realize something and abruptly turned away.

“Don’t be fooled, Elric. The witches told me she would say this to deceive us. She’s a witch who can pretend to use divine energy.”

“No! Does that even make sense? Of course they would say that, anticipating this situation might occur! How could witches possibly use real divine energy!”

“Then how do you explain using witch’s magic to kidnap Rubel! And why were you silent all this time, only speaking up now?”

“That’s…….”

Eir paused briefly. She guessed how her words would sound like excuses, even if they weren’t, especially to someone like Magnus who had absolutely no faith in her.

But she was in a desperate situation.

If she were captured by the witches, not only would her life be in danger, but it would also negatively impact the empire. And Rubel…….

‘I only want to believe your answer and go with that.’

‘I don’t want to fill your hand with something that could threaten you. And besides that, this time I just want to trust you.’

She didn’t want to create a situation where she betrayed Rubel who had said such things.

“I can explain everything. In this world where God exists, if you hand me, a priest, over to the witches, what will become of you, Magnus Shinote? Don’t you believe in God?”

Eir asked desperately.

Magnus’s back showed no sign of wavering. Instead, he turned his body around, curling his lips in a mocking smile as he looked at her again.

“I don’t care whether you’re really a priest or a witch pretending to be one. What I get is the same either way. And how dare you speak of God?”

He grabbed her hair and pulled it, bringing his face close to hers. Eir’s face contorted in pain as her scalp felt like it was being torn off, and Magnus laughed as if amused.

“Even if you were a priest, didn’t you abandon God and run away? Then whether you’re a priest or a witch, nothing changes. Isn’t that right?”

Magnus said coldly, then released Eir’s hair with an annoyed gesture and motioned to the knight again. Muttering threateningly that if she continued to be troublesome, he wouldn’t just stop at pulling her hair, the knight decided it would be better to knock her out and struck the back of her neck again.

Eir couldn’t even let out a soft groan before she collapsed.
