A crowd had already gathered around the man. Thanks to Reno’s explanation, we knew it was a spirit binding his body, but outwardly, he appeared normal.

Yet, staying frozen in one position and screaming at the top of his lungs naturally drew attention.

Isaac, who had been silently observing, furrowed his brow—a rare reaction.

“Why didn’t you silence him?”

“Ah, sorry. I got excited when I found him and forgot. My apologies, Your Highness.”

Reno even apologized to me.

“It’s fine. Actually, it’s better this way.”

“Pardon?”

“The reason he can’t move is because of the spirit, correct?”

“Yes. Should I manifest the spirit so others can see it too?”

“No. Instead, release him.”

“Are you sure? Even if he runs, we can catch him quickly, but…….”

“It’s fine. Release him.”

I nodded as I spoke.

‘Normally, he’d be begging for his life or asking for a healer.’

But the man, though terrified, seemed to be enjoying the situation, shouting to draw more attention rather than cowering in fear.

As soon as Reno withdrew the spirit’s power, the man, who had been standing rigidly, toppled forward.

Unable to adjust his balance after losing the unseen support, he crashed to the ground.

“Ah, what the……!”

Groaning, the man scrambled to his feet. Those around him, who had been skeptical of his immobility, now murmured in irritation.

“What the heck? He’s moving just fine.”

“So, was he lying about his sister being dead too?”

“Unbelievable. He slandered someone doing good work with such blatant lies…….”

“W-wait! Don’t leave! My sister really did die!”

The man’s desperate cries went unheard as the crowd dispersed, uninterested.

“Wow. I didn’t think you’d resolve it so easily.”

“It’s not resolved yet. We still need to find out what he meant by someone dying.”

Just as I stepped closer to approach the man, Isaac moved ahead and blocked my path. Forced to stop, I looked up at him, puzzled.

“Isaac? What’s the matter?”

His actions were unusual, and I couldn’t hide my confusion.

“He is an unidentified individual who has defamed Your Highness. If you have any commands, I will interrogate him myself.”

Ah, so that’s what this was about……. It was for my safety.

Knowing how obsessive Isaac could be about matters related to my security, I quickly understood. That didn’t mean I intended to follow his suggestion, though.

“I’m sorry, but you can’t do it.”

“Then allow Reno to handle it. That man could pose a threat to Your Highness.”

“I agree with Isaac this time. He may be overprotective…… but there’s no reason for Your Highness to deal with him directly.”

“Does he even know who I am? With this magical robe concealing me, he wouldn’t recognize me.”

“That’s true, but he could’ve been one of those who came to the distribution center for supplies. If we slip up or he picks up on a hint, he could figure out who you are.”

“Exactly. Like how we’re calling you ‘Your Highness’ right now. If he realizes it, who knows what he might do. If there’s anything that needs to be done, let me handle it.”

I hadn’t expected both Isaac and Reno to oppose me so strongly.

Since it wasn’t something I absolutely had to handle myself, I decided to relent. After all, they were adamant out of concern for my safety.

“Alright. Reno, can I borrow your ear for a moment?”

Though Isaac would undoubtedly overhear, I whispered my plan to Reno to avoid anyone else passing by from catching wind of it.

After listening, Reno nodded and grinned mischievously.

“Ah, so that’s why Your Highness was so firm earlier. You’re right—Isaac definitely couldn’t handle this.”

“…….”

Isaac, predictably, didn’t refute Reno’s remark.

“Leave it to me, Your Highness.”

“I’ll count on you.”

With a confident stride, Reno approached the man, who was still desperately shouting for someone to believe him.

Despite the lies the man had been caught in, he continued to plead with passersby, though no one paid him any attention.

As Reno drew closer, his imposing figure—heightened by his naturally large frame—made the man visibly tense.

“W-what do you want……?”

Before the man could finish his sentence, Reno reached out and firmly grabbed both of his hands. Startled, the man struggled to pull away, but Reno quickly shouted.

“Brother!”
