Chapter 110
“…….”
Since Cynthia had asked him last time, Segleninde no longer seemed to read her thoughts.
And so, Cynthia found herself thinking once more about the still-missing ‘Cynthia Obel’.
There was still the most important lie she hadn’t revealed to Segleninde. That she was not ‘Cynthia Obel’, but a human from Earth—a Korean named ‘Shin Sia’.
Segleninde, before regaining his memories, had clearly been furious when he realized she was a fake fiancée.
She didn’t know whether he had truly intended to kill her then, but the look on his face had been filled with betrayal. The thought of seeing that expression again made Cynthia too afraid to confess the truth.
So, forget it. Better to forget everything and simply live as the real Cynthia.
After all, hadn’t she already survived everything that could be survived? The only thing different was the contents. The one who had built up intimacy with Segleninde through conversation, who had made it this far, was not ‘Cynthia Obel’, but herself.
If, in the future, the truth was ever discovered and he felt betrayed, she would make sure to tell him the facts.
Shin Sia firmed her resolve. Yes, Shin Sia was Cynthia, even as she was now.
“There is… one thing I need.”
“What? What do you need? Tell me.”
“…Your hand.”
She mustered up her courage. Despite having already done everything—s*x, kissing—there was one thing they still hadn’t done.
“We haven’t even held hands yet. Can… Can we hold hands?”
“…..”
And then Cynthia realized. Surprisingly, holding hands was even harder than kissing or s*x.
When their hands finally met, both their faces were flushed red, incomparable to anything before. Even Segleninde’s hand, tightly clasping Cynthia’s, was hot to the touch.
With her face blushing, Cynthia sneaked a glance at him. Then, when she saw his own burning red cheeks, her head spun.
Segleninde was the same. When their eyes met as he secretly gazed at her round head, he quickly turned away, but only squeezed her hand tighter instead of letting go.
Neither of them noticed the maids and other creatures of the mansion watching from afar and quietly laughing at the sight of the two of them bumbling along, holding hands, faces crimson, only stealing glances at each other.
After holding hands, Segleninde suddenly became much quieter. Cynthia, who was fidgeting with his hand, was no different. It felt strangely odd that just holding her hand could make him so silent.
After all, he was the master of this enormous mansion, a noble who ruled over an entire territory, a primordial monster who had witnessed the course of history in this world, a terrifying mastermind who killed people and fed on their life force. Yet now, he was nothing more than a boy floundering in his first love.
‘Does he really like me? Really?’
She couldn’t understand it. If, system-wise, affection wasn’t even a real concept, then for him to have fallen in love with her was strange. Rationally, she could find no explanation.
But Cynthia didn’t mind. She liked it.
She liked how his cheeks blushed when he looked at her, how his expression softened ever so slightly when their eyes met, how his wine-colored eyes wavered, how his lips seemed about to part before settling into a smile. Every time he looked at her, she felt as though her heart were being stabbed with a knife.
The teddy bear had been wrong. None of this could be considered acting.
‘Segleninde really does love me.’
Cynthia was sure of it. And that she, too, had come to love him.
