However, there was no time to feel relieved.

‘…That way, maybe you won’t make your real fiancée suffer when you finally do get one.’

Segleninde pretended to be calm when he heard Cynthia’s thoughts, but inside, flames of jealousy raged.

He knew that sometimes Cynthia would mutter to herself—about this world being a game, about having to return to reality, about things being fake, about deceiving him—but only in her mind.

Segleninde figured that, before he lost his memories, he must have known about these things too. After all, there shouldn’t be any secrets between two people who were to marry.

So, since it was only because of his amnesia that he could no longer understand what he would have easily grasped before, he resolved not to doubt her or question her unnecessarily, so as not to bother her.

But a real fiancée… What did she mean by that? For him, she was his one and only fiancée.

Did it mean that she might get another fiancé?

That must be it. He had no reason to have a new fiancée, so she must be planning to kick him away the moment she left the mansion and run into the arms of some other man.

Of course, she was such a beautiful and lovely woman that it wouldn’t be strange if she tossed aside a monster like him and latched onto dozens of proper human men. In that case, was this ‘fake’ she sometimes mentioned not referring to her, but to himself? Was he the fake fiancé?

If so, he could understand why she wanted to escape this mansion. To go back to some bastard he didn’t even know—some wretched dog of a man she was supposed to be engaged to—and to shed clear tears like morning dew as she told him how hard it was to feign love for a fake like Segleninde.

The time spent with Segleninde was nothing more than a game, and only the moments with her true love would be her reality?

What nonsense.

Grinding his teeth at his own delusions, Segleninde erased every bit of detailed information he had gleaned from her thoughts that might have brought him closer to her true intentions. Instead, he was blinded by jealousy toward a man whose very existence was uncertain.

Without me, there is no Cynthia. Without Cynthia, there is no me. We promised to be together forever, so what other talk is this now?

If Cynthia so much as says she doesn’t need any man other than me, and that she will be with me forever, I’ll wipe out every human male. No, not just human males. If there’s a male of any species in this world born with something between their legs, I’ll make them all extinct.

Swallowing down the jealousy that gnawed at his heart, he decided to create a momentary farewell, so she would never again even think of leaving him. He would make it so the very word ‘leave’ never crossed her mind.

So Segleninde deliberately split the ground and let himself fall down below.

“Sellie!”

The cry coming from above already sounded heartbreaking.

Segleninde pretended not to hear her call. To reassure her, he manipulated the system to send her a message, and set up a quest to guide her into the Spring Flower Garden alone. He planned to stay on the first floor and not move until she was wailing his name in tears.

Though Cynthia, lost in thought, didn’t move quickly and he had to move her himself, at least when she arrived, she ran rather energetically through the Spring Flower Garden.

He watched from afar as Cynthia did her part.

His plan was to see her searching for him in tears, but he didn’t want her to die before that, so he moved one of his tentacles that extended throughout the mansion to slaughter all the creatures in the Spring Flower Garden first. Then he gathered all the necessary hints.

Surely, after all that, she’d notice it was the work of her man. But she only grew tense, wondering if a new enemy had appeared… and never once called his name.

He even sent a thought telling her to wait there so he could come find her, instead of moving her himself, but she just marched bravely off to the Moon Flower Garden.

Segleninde felt a little sulky.

“Agh!”

So, before he realized it, he summoned a tentacle to grab her and lift her into the air.

Even to himself, it seemed a bit childish. It was obvious he just wanted to scare her into calling his name. Of course, Cynthia didn’t back down and simply shouted as soon as she was caught.

‘I’ve tried it with Sellie’s fingers and with a fake c**k on a chair, but why do I so stubbornly not want to do it with a gentlemanly tentacle like this?’

He even sent that thought, but Cynthia was firm. She said she didn’t want it.
