“Ugh, today was exhausting too…”
As always, Shin Sia returned home on a subway so packed it felt like it might burst, and the moment she stepped into her apartment, she collapsed onto the floor as if falling. Her wavy, tangled hair sprawled out messily. She hadn’t even eaten a proper meal yet, and after being worn down by work until late, her mental state was in shambles.
At times like this, she missed a certain touch.
A man who would sweep her messy hair back, pull her onto his lap and hold her, then teasingly cut delicious food into small pieces and pop them into her mouth. If he had known how she was treated at work, he would have been so furious he’d have said he’d kill everyone there.
No. Knowing his personality, he probably would have just mocked her for letting herself be pushed around by those kinds of people, making a joke of it until it turned into a real argument.
“…Let’s just clean up.”
Cutting off her thoughts before unnecessary feelings could arise, she forced herself up.
The disaster zone that was her studio apartment came into full view. Here, if she rushed out in the morning and left the place a mess, there were no maids to clean up after her. She had to tidy up herself.
The day she broke all the music boxes and stabbed her own neck with the Instant Death Dagger to return to reality…
When she next opened her eyes, Shin Sia was lying on the floor of her rented apartment, and water in her kettle was just about to boil over.
She had spent what felt like several months trapped in a world she thought was just a game, but when she checked her phone, not even five minutes had passed.
Up to that point, she thought she must have been dreaming. Becoming the fake fiancée of a handsome hidden mastermind, storming through a horror-gore mansion turned e****c game, having s*x with him and ending up truly engaged… Wasn’t that all too unrealistic?
But soon enough, she realized it had been real.
As she turned off the gas stove and looked back, she finally noticed the pure white tentacles spilling out of the laptop she’d left on the table.
The moment she saw them, she panicked, managed to shake off the tentacles that tried to grab her wrist, and somehow succeeded in slamming the laptop shut.
After that, she didn’t even look at the laptop. She stuffed it in her bag and hid it under the bed as if sealing it away.
If she ever needed to use a computer, she could just go to a nearby PC café, and otherwise, she could do everything on her phone. After what had happened in that world, she didn’t think she’d ever want to play games again.
But Sia had never once had things go the way she wanted.
There came a situation where she had no choice but to open the laptop.
“Haa……”
‘Damn small shithouse company.’
She’d been fired. And with no notice, on the very same day. Worse, it was right after finishing a late-night shift.
It had only been a week since she’d struggled her way back from that forced transmigration in another world, and now this disaster struck. Sia was so dumbfounded she couldn’t even curse.
It wasn’t even for any major reason. Apparently, the company was looking to cut staff. She wasn’t the only one who’d been hit with a same-day ‘resignation recommendation’ after working late.
“Just go out of business. Go out of business like the trash you are! Argh!”
Come to think of it, they had loaded her up with even more work than usual all day, shoving things on her that weren’t even her job. Clearly, they wanted to wring every last drop out of her before they gave her the boot. She was so frustrated she could die.
And the misfortune didn’t stop there.
Of all times, on her way home she dropped her phone and broke it. The repair shop wasn’t open, so she’d have to wait until tomorrow to know for sure, but as far as she could tell, her seven-year-old phone had finally given up the ghost.
To top it off, the only PC café nearby had closed after the landlord raised the rent. At this point, it felt like the universe was threatening her to just crawl back into the world of ‘Coffin of the White Rose’.
‘This is driving me crazy. Rent’s due tomorrow, and after I pay it I won’t have anything left.’
Even if she moved to a smaller place, it would still cost money, and first, she needed to find a new job. Her life had always been miserable like this. With no parents, she’d scraped by all on her own, but all she ever got in return was bad luck.
Segleninde, too.
That bastard. If you’re going to be kind, stay kind to the end. Or just never let yourself get found out in the first place. Why did he have to gather everything up like that.
‘Ah, why do I keep thinking about that guy. Is it just because I’m tired…’
