After the situation was settled, the creatures set out to repair the mansion.

Thanks to Cynthia, Segleninde recovered his strength, and the mansion was mostly restored to its original state, but some parts needed to be fixed by hand, so several workers were mobilized.

Taking the opportunity, Segleninde also changed the structure of the mansion. Not only did he make sure plenty of sunlight could enter, but he also removed all the various traps.

Where there had been secret passages, there was now a new greenhouse, and the bizarre plants that once filled the Moon Flower Garden were replaced with far more pleasant ones.

At Cynthia’s request, her former bodies in the basement were returned to Earth.

From now on, Cynthia decided to live in her current body. As had been determined the moment she chose to return to this world, she forgave Segleninde once again as he earnestly sought her forgiveness.

Afterward, Segleninde formally proposed to Cynthia.

“I will love you forever and never let you die. No matter what you say, I’ll follow your wishes and always make you happy.”

In the sunlit first-floor main hall, Segleninde knelt on one knee, showing Cynthia a ring as he beamed brightly.

“Please, will you accept my eternity?”

The ring, set with a large, splendid gemstone, was something he had prepared for her since the time she had stayed here. Cynthia, face flushing shyly, nodded and offered her hand to him, and Segleninde joyfully slipped the ring onto her finger.

When Cynthia responded by kissing Segleninde on the forehead, the creatures who had gathered to witness their true union gave a round of applause. Melissa even dabbed her eyes with a handkerchief, and the personal maids caused a commotion as the flowers on their heads bloomed wide open.

“Well, neither of us have parents to see, so we can have the wedding quickly,” Cynthia said with an easy smile.

There was no way someone like Segleninde would have parents, and since Count Obel had disappeared, she was as good as an orphan, so there was no need for things like a formal family meeting. In fact, it was more comfortable this way.

But then Segleninde brought up something unexpected.

“Actually, I’ve already found your parents.”

“Huh?”

Segleninde had gone through several trials and errors to anchor Cynthia’s existence to this world.

Up until now, the reason Cynthia had always met her death outside even after surviving through to the end in the mansion was because her connection to this world was faint. For a human to exist, causality is essential, so he had arranged a new fate to fulfill her causality.

Simply put, ‘Cynthia Obel’ really had biological parents.

In order to anchor her existence to this world, Segleninde created people fated to become her parents. While it was Segleninde who shaped the fate and appearance of ‘Cynthia Obel’, she was undoubtedly born through her parents.

“But, wait. I’m supposed to be Count Obel’s daughter. Then who was that man?”

“Oh, that. To put it in terms you’d easily understand, like I told you before, he was a bug. He was a foreign object that got mixed into the fate I created for you, a distortion that occurred because the world couldn’t fully acknowledge your existence. Now that your existence is completely anchored to this world, you don’t need to worry about that happening again.”

A more detailed explanation came from Melissa a bit later.

At the time young Cynthia was kidnapped, Count Obel had been drunk. He arbitrarily mistook her for the daughter of a woman he’d played with in the past.

In reality, Cynthia had absolutely no blood relation to Count Obel. They were complete strangers.

“Later on, he found out the truth himself, but he didn’t bother correcting it. His only purpose was to take you as a daughter and raise you as merchandise to sell.”

Cynthia immediately prepared to go meet her biological parents.

While helping dress her with the other maids, Melissa brought up Count Obel and vented her anger. She lamented how many times she’d wanted to kill him while caring for Cynthia under the count’s roof.

There were actually several times she nearly did kill him, but she held back because her mission was to look after Cynthia until she arrived safely at the Wincastle Manor. Still, she admitted she often missed the axe she’d left behind at the mansion.

Listening to the story, Cynthia was sincerely grateful to Melissa, whom she now regarded as her real older sister, for getting angry on her behalf. At the same time, she felt pure excitement about meeting her real parents and put the matter of Count Obel behind her.

‘I really had real parents after all.’

Even on Earth, her connection to her parents had been faint, so she had longed for a family since childhood. And now, at last, she truly had parents.

Even if it was a fate that Segleninde created in order to anchor her to this world, to them she was truly their child, and to her, they were truly her parents.
