Chapter 165
A carriage engraved with the white rose, the symbol of House Wincastle, departed from the mansion.
Cynthia, together with Segleninde, rode the carriage that was driven by a creature coachman disguised as a human. They were on their way to where her parents lived.
The journey took longer than expected, and when they finally arrived, it was at a small territory in the eastern part of the kingdom.
Cynthia’s real parents were none other than the baronial couple who oversaw that small territory. Their family name was Margareta, and Cynthia’s real name was ‘Cynthia Margareta’.
“They’ve been searching for their lost daughter for a long time. Because they never gave up on finding you, I was able to track them down more easily than I thought.”
Segleninde gently held Cynthia’s tense hand. Hearing that he had sent a letter ahead and that they would be waiting for her, Cynthia grew even more tense. She was hopeful, but deep down she feared that her real parents might find her unfamiliar or might not accept her.
Soon, the carriage stopped in front of a small mansion, much smaller than the Wincastle Ducal Manor.
Holding Segleninde’s hand, Cynthia got off the carriage and looked ahead. There, in front of the mansion, a couple who had been peeking out for a while as if waiting for someone came running as soon as they saw the carriage.
The moment Cynthia saw them, her eyes filled with tears.
She knew instantly upon seeing them. These were her parents.
“Ah, Cynthia! My daughter…!”
The noblewoman who ran up and embraced Cynthia, soaking both her cheeks with tears, had pale gray eyes.
The middle-aged gentleman who came running up behind her had curly reddish-orange hair.
Cynthia couldn’t even manage to say the greeting she had prepared. Collapsing into their embrace, the familiar scent awakened memories engraved in her body.
It was as if the eerily familiar scenery she had seen all along the carriage ride culminated in the return of her childhood memories, welcoming her back.
Welcome, you’ve returned. This is where you belong. That’s what it felt like they were saying.
Even if it was a fabricated bond, connections between people always become real in the end, so Cynthia accepted them as her parents and shared a long embrace with them.
Segleninde stood behind, watching them with a smile.
Fate had been fulfilled. At last, this world had become a true home for Cynthia.

The wedding of Cynthia and Segleninde was held grandly.
The news that the bride of Duke Wincastle was none other than the daughter whom Baron and Baroness Margareta had searched for all those years spread throughout the entire kingdom. As a result, countless guests were invited, and the creatures greeted all the humans with bright smiles instead of drooling over them.
Amid everyone’s blessings, the two finally became a true married couple.
The once-poor Margareta Barony flourished more than ever with Duke Wincastle’s support, and Segleninde and the other creatures lived by consuming new foods instead of harming human beings.
While some did regret no longer being able to eat humans, during Cynthia’s stay, they became quite accustomed to eating food made from livestock, and the Butcher Cook brothers excitedly developed new recipes.
The Wincastle Manor was now no longer a place of dangerous traps but a beautiful space filled with sunlight and flowers.
“Come to think of it, you said someone made you a good offer, but you turned them down to come to me. You told me to guess what you said to refuse them. I really can’t figure it out. Won’t you tell me?”
Segleninde asked, carrying Cynthia to their bedroom after the wedding.
Cynthia, having nearly forgotten about that, rolled her eyes and answered with a laugh.
“Well… I said it’d be difficult since I was getting married. But she told me to definitely get in touch if I ever need a job. Though, I don’t think that’ll ever happen.”
From that moment, Cynthia had already prepared herself to be with him forever. Realizing this, Segleninde smiled more openly and joyfully than ever. Finding his face adorable, Cynthia left a gentle kiss on his cheek and quietly asked,
“As promised, you’ll make me happy, right?”
“Of course. Forever. I promise.”
Segleninde’s affectionate kiss returned. Cynthia embraced him, feeling her heart flutter with anticipation, and soon he kissed her neck and began removing her pure white bridal gown.
Cynthia’s chest swelled with excitement.
Now, this world was truly where she belonged. Parents she’d regained, familiar creatures, and her beloved man. As she faced the happiness she would enjoy for eternity, she embraced her love.
He smiled as he held her in his arms. Both of them had never looked so forward to the future.
Realizing that her destiny was at last drifting toward happiness, Cynthia blossomed into a brilliant smile.
