Segleninde immediately turned his head toward the direction of that sound. Beyond his long silver hair, which fluttered while soaked in blood, at the far end of the corridor. A small woman stood there alone, waving her hand as if to show off. Even from far away, her face was cute enough to recognize, and she looked rather confident.

Without knowing why such an impression flowed out from within him, he simply tightened his grip on the sword indifferently.

“You were looking for me, right? Come catch me if you can!”

Then she fled like an arrow.

A hollow laugh burst from between his lips. It was certainly not a reaction born from joy. He did not know such an emotion. This sensation of his chest churning and his stomach trembling strangely must also be unpleasantness at facing, for the first time since his existence began, a fearless human who dared oppose him.

Was there any need to use a sword? Segleninde threw away the insignificant blade that could cut that tender body in two the moment it touched the woman’s skin, and he ran after her barehanded. The faint scent the woman left behind seemed to guide him. As if he were being bewitched.

So as soon as he caught her, he would embrace— No.

‘Kill her. Swallow her without leaving a trace.’

And then he would burrow in with sweet delight, mingle their breaths, make her smile… No.

He thought it had been quite some time since he had taken this form, but perhaps he was still not used to a human shape. It seemed an error was occurring in his mind. After he caught and killed that woman, he would have to recheck the condition of this body. If necessary, he would dismantle and reassemble it.

Especially this muscular organ inside his chest, which had been giving him discomfort and making his entire rib cage throb unpleasantly since earlier, had to be removed.

He intended not to care even if the body he had borrowed in human form no longer functioned properly. This was too bothersome to leave alone. To live with such a thing inside their bodies, hah. Living creatures were irrational from beginning to end.

“Over here, Sellie! Hurry up! You slowpoke!”

While he had briefly fallen into thought, his prey was provoking him in front of the door to the Second Banquet Hall. Segleninde let out a hollow laugh. If he caught that thing, he would never let her die gently. He would make sure to hear the sound of her panting for breath.

As soon as he increased his speed, the woman quickly slipped away and hid inside the door. The sight looked like a single flower scattering, and he reached out without realizing it. But immediately after, he pushed through the half-closed banquet hall door with enough force to smash it and rushed inside.

In the Second Banquet Hall, where calm music flowed, a ball was in full swing as usual.

On the floor where black, white, and red tiles were mixed together, jointed wooden dolls danced. The woman was on the other side, beckoning lightly while pretending to embrace someone and dance alone. With light steps, she danced skillfully, as if she had done it often.

Suddenly, a surge of resentment rose in Segleninde. His chest burned, and veins bulged in his neck and the backs of his hands. His mind filled with the thought that he could not leave that as it was. This was surely murderous intent.

“What are you doing over there by yourself? Hurry and come here! Are you going to leave me dancing alone? Hm?”

As if that were not enough, the woman even teased him with a mocking tone. Laughing coldly, he rushed forward without caring about the trap she had laid.

Clatter, clatter, clatter!

[ ! WARNING ! ]

A trap has been activated.

Creeeak! Clack-clatter!

Creeeeak!

Creak! Creeeak!

At the same time as messages appeared, scattering threatening warning sounds, dense pink smoke erupted from every direction, and the wooden dolls stopped dancing and rushed at Segleninde all at once.

Cynthia retreated as far back as possible, careful not to inhale the smoke that spread like a thick fog. She had used the mansion’s control authority to raise the concentration of the aphrodisiac smoke released here to the maximum, but whether it would work on Segleninde remained unknown.

However, soon she had to hurriedly turn around and run out through the other door on the opposite side.

Crack, crunch!

Above the fog made of smoke, the shattered remains of wooden dolls flew into the air. They were getting closer and closer to her. Cynthia ran without looking back and escaped through the door.
