Memory Reset: Sia
Segleninde could not regain his composure quickly.
It was not only because Cynthia was glaring at him as if she wanted to kill him. Once he realized what his wife had offered as the price for restoring his memories, he was simply stunned, and he could not readily figure out how he was supposed to deal with her as she trembled in fear.
Other than giving distance to the woman glaring at him with a sharp face, as if she would shatter at the slightest wrong touch, there was nothing he could do. He merely thought, comparatively calmer than he had been just moments ago.
At exactly what point had her memories returned to?
The point his memories had returned to was before he met Cynthia, but Cynthia had gone through countless regressions because of him. So he could not know whether the current Cynthia was Princess Cynthia, Mage Cynthia, Detective Assistant Cynthia, or some other Cynthia.
But before long, Segleninde was able to grasp the truth.
“Fire Ball!”
The sight of her pointing a finger at him and shouting a spell activation word made him realize it immediately.
Among all the ‘Cynthias’, she had hated him the most, and until the final sequence, she had been the one who came closest to the truth. That was why she had left part of her own consciousness inside that teddy bear and guided her future self.
The current her was ‘Mage Cynthia’.
“F-Fire Ball! Fire Ball! Thunder! Ice Chain!”
Even though she shouted activation words in succession, no magic came out, and she looked visibly flustered. It was only natural, since the current Cynthia was not a mage with mana, but from her perspective, she had suddenly become unable to use magic, so she seemed unable to understand her present state.
“Ugh…!”
Since Segleninde was only standing there and staring blankly at her, Cynthia hurriedly fled from the spot.
No matter where she went, the inside of this mansion would be safe wherever her feet touched, but Segleninde followed after her before she could misunderstand something and flee outside the mansion.
He had realized what the self-proclaimed ‘Will of the World’ truly was. He had also realized exactly what that being’s anger, which Cynthia had mentioned, was for. In the end, it meant the time had finally come for him to truly atone for the sins he had accumulated before he realized he was a being with a heart.
“Sia…”
Segleninde conveyed his will to the creatures, who were probably still in the middle of cleaning up, and had all of them hide themselves. In this state, he had no choice but to find a way to resolve the situation while frightening her as little as possible.
And that method had already been decided.

“Madam, where are you going in such a hurry? You aren’t even dressed properly…”
“Gaaah!”
Cynthia darted away from the creature maid who approached her familiarly and asked in surprise.
She was confused. Why she could not use magic, why the system window would not turn on, and why the creatures she encountered while crossing the hallway just now were approaching her with worry instead of chasing after her to kill her.
Only after belatedly hearing the will Segleninde had conveyed did the creature servants hurriedly hide themselves. After that, even Melissa, who had been hesitating over whether to approach her or not, was eventually stopped by the other servants and decided to remain hidden until Segleninde resolved the matter.
Thanks to that, the Wincastle ducal residence became quiet in an instant, but Cynthia did not even notice as she busied herself running. Even though no traps existed and no creatures were in sight, she ran and ran with only the thought that she had to escape from this place.
‘The Harvester isn’t in sight… Where is everyone else? Why was I alone in that room? Even looking like this!’
No matter how much she thought about it, her memories were only hazy. She couldn’t grasp what was happening right now, nor could she understand why she couldn’t use magic.
‘I don’t really know, but anyway, this is a chance.’
There were no creatures, and she saw no traps. If she did well, she might be able to escape this terrible mansion without dying even once.
Clutching the robe that kept slipping loose and trying to slide down, Cynthia ran up the stairs leading to the upper floor. Even if her memories were vague, she remembered that in order to get out of this place, she had to reach the very top floor.
