Even if she was just a fake fiancée and had to rely on him to survive, Cynthia couldn’t tolerate being treated this way. She poured out all the complaints she’d kept to herself to the startled Segleninde.

“What kind of man treats his fiancée like this? If you ever go around later claiming to be a gentleman, or a noble, just you try it! You look proper on the outside, but if all you do is talk trash to people, you’re no better than a thug! You think you’re the only one who can curse? I can curse too!”

As Cynthia’s face turned bright red, Segleninde arched an eyebrow in interest.

“…Then go ahead.”

“D-Damn it! Bastard! Thug! Rotten scumbag! All you have is a pretty face but your mouth belongs in a sewer! You look like some shameless womanizer…!”

The more she let it all out, the more Cynthia calmed down, her reason gradually returning as the curses left her system.

At last, realizing what she’d just done, Cynthia lowered her hand and her face went pale.

‘I-I’m f****d.’

“Are you done? You’re pretty good at cursing.”

But for someone who had just thrown every curse she could think of at the villain, she didn’t feel any sense of mortal danger. Maybe it was because, unexpectedly, he was smiling radiantly.

…At first, she thought he was smiling out of annoyance and was ready to be on guard again, but on closer look, he actually seemed genuinely pleased.

Now more annoyed than ever, Cynthia decided not to go back to using polite speech, since she’d already thrown it aside.

“Why the hell are you smiling?”

“You called me handsome.”

“What?”

“You said I look proper, too.”

“……”

“So you actually thought pretty highly of me, huh, fiancée.”

Even though she’d just dumped a truckload of insults on him, the only thing that seemed to cheer him up were those little lines she’d thrown in just to be sarcastic. He didn’t seem to be making fun of her… his expression was sincerely bright.

Cynthia couldn’t believe it. She’d at least expected him to curse her back, but this was his reaction? She actually felt deflated.

“Huu…”

Now that even her motivation to be angry was gone, she slumped to the floor. Maybe some of the tension was still left in her body, because her shoulders kept trembling. Watching her with a hint of curiosity, Segleninde came over, knelt in front of her, and asked,

“Are you still hungry? Why do you keep shaking?”

“…Just shut up.”

You inhuman jerk.

Anyway, all the Harvesters that had been such a headache were completely wiped out.

Cynthia stood up, glancing past Segleninde’s shoulder at the savage scene outside the door.

Back when Coffin of the White Rose was at the height of its popularity, what did gamers call the Harvesters? “Newbie crushers,” wasn’t it? The only way to deal with them was to run, and if you made a wrong turn because of their speed, they’d cut off your escape and you’d be forced to watch your death scene.

Some people even considered the Harvesters, who roamed near the kitchen, to be the true boss of the first floor, even more than the Butcher Cooks.

But now, all of them had been killed by Segleninde.

‘Now that I think about it… in this game, there really is nothing stronger than this guy.’

She took back everything she’d thought about him not being useful. With her exhausted body, Cynthia stepped outside the room.

It wasn’t refreshing to finally be out. The ceiling, walls, and floor of the hallway were all stained black with blood as far as she could see, and it made her want to throw up. She heard Segleninde, who followed her out, complain about how weak she was, so she shot back that he was just stupidly strong and hurried away.

Even though Cynthia was walking as fast as she could, Segleninde easily caught up to her at a leisurely pace and asked,

“So you’re not using honorifics anymore.”

“Want me to? Because I’m not going to.”

“No, it’s better this way. I was getting tired of seeing you force yourself to be polite when you clearly didn’t want to.”

“……”

Cynthia decided to just ignore him. Of course, her hands were still trembling.

First, she needed to find the kitchen. She knew if she asked Segleninde, he’d just say he couldn’t remember, so she crossed the hallway, trying to recall everything she could. At least, since no Ghost Rats had shown up yet, they must have been scared off after seeing Segleninde slaughter the Harvesters.
