Chapter 69
A sweet fragrance spread throughout the entire garden, with a faint mist drifting over everything. Was this the special event? Since it didn’t seem to have any particular effect, Cynthia felt a little let down as she checked around the base of the flower.
“Oh, this.”
Near the roots of the flower, where it connected to the earth, lay a heart-shaped red gemstone. No matter how she looked at it, it was exactly the same shape as the hole in the chest of the teddy bear. Was this the bear’s heart?
Cynthia picked it up and debated whether to take out the bear and try fitting in the heart now, when suddenly a scream rang out behind her.
“U-Ugh! Aaaah…”
Startled, Cynthia turned around.
Through the mist, now so thick it blurred her vision, she saw, to her surprise, a human figure running toward her. It wasn’t Segleninde. As the figure came closer, it became clear that it was none other than one of the nobles who’d been invited to the banquet.
When he spotted Cynthia from afar, the man dashed straight toward her at a frenzied speed.
Surprised that there was another survivor, Cynthia stowed the heart-shaped jewel in her inventory, and, feeling a bit relieved, was about to greet him—
When the man suddenly shoved her forcefully to the ground.
“Ah!”
“You, you! You’re a woman, right? You are, aren’t you?”
The man who’d suddenly pinned Cynthia down was a sight to behold. His chin was covered in rough stubble, his clothes were torn, and he was covered in wounds here and there—he’d probably managed to survive all the way here after the ‘real banquet’ began.
The problem was, he didn’t seem to be in his right mind. Holding on to Cynthia, he babbled incoherently.
“Th-that flower… the scent is so sweet. So sweet! The scent is so sweet it’s driving me mad!”
“What are you even…!”
Cynthia finally took a good look at his condition. The front of his pants was sticking out. He was fully aroused.
In the game, that flower was never supposed to have any effect. It was just for the event, nothing more. But now, it seemed the sweet fragrance filling the Moon Flower Garden had sent the man into a state of heat.
Judging by the fact that Cynthia herself was unaffected while only he was losing his mind, it must be an effect limited to men. As proof, he was now trying to violate her.
“I’m losing it. I’m going crazy! If I don’t stick it in right now, I’ll go insane!”
“You— You lunatic! Get off me! Go away! Aaah!”
Cynthia struggled desperately, but the man, driven by his lust, began to tear at her clothes. Her shirt slipped down, baring half her chest, and her pants had slid down to her hips. The man licked his lips, his bloodshot eyes glued to her pale skin.
Smack!
Cynthia’s knee shot straight up into his g***n.
“Guh—!”
“I said get off me!”
She’d seen it in a self-defense video once: in an emergency, when attacking a man, you’re supposed to hit not the shaft but the balls underneath. Apparently, it really worked, because the man could only gasp raggedly, clutching his crotch and collapsing sideways.
Cynthia hurriedly scrambled to her feet, quickly straightening her disheveled clothes. The man glared at her, drool dripping from his mouth.
“You, you little…!”
“What, you rapist bastard! Try coming at me again if you want to die! I’ll make sure you can never be a man again!”
Cynthia threatened him, pretending to kick. But despite his legs shaking, the man forced himself to his feet, still glaring at her with a look that was anything but sane. His expression was like a rabid dog, and Cynthia involuntarily flinched.
Just then, something flew at them from the distance.
Shhiiing!
“Eek!”
A long, sharp blade came flying through the air, grazing the man’s shoulder.
