“By the way, how are things going with the obsidian? From what I saw last time, the supply has increased much more than before, so it didn’t seem like there would be any out-of-stock issues.”

“It’s almost too good to talk about. Since Amarast has supplied about 30% more obsidian raw stones, we’re selling them at regular prices without any stockouts. Moreover, even when we couldn’t keep up with demand before, our guild sold at the regular price, didn’t we? So people trust us and additionally purchase other gems, which has increased overall sales performance.”

Resena smiled slightly at those words. After adding notes to the last document and handing it to her assistant, she rose from her seat.

“This is all thanks to you, Miss, as the guild master. Since Amarast and Crevasta are connected by a canal, trade as established is easy… But to adjust the prices of goods, one must constantly visit villages through the land trade route. But you willingly undertook that difficult journey and prevented any further problems for the guild. I can only express my gratitude.”

Resena smiled at those words and waited for the maid to bring her teacup. As the red waves filled the cup when the teapot with floating cold ice cubes was tilted, she slowly took a sip.

“I only did what I could. And fortunately, it went well… Not just me, but the people who went as the delegation helped liberate the Amarast royal family, which is why things have gone so smoothly.”

“You mean Master Alken and Master Renard, Saint Lorona and Sir Ian Fullecher?”

“Yes. And the Sword Expert knights who participated were also important. They were outside the castle, preventing the black mages from escaping.”

Resena reached out and picked up a lemon madeleine. The icing covering the top blended fantastically with the crumbling madeleine pieces in her mouth.

“Ah. This is really delicious. Jerome is truly good at making any kind of bread. I think he would do really well if he opened a shop.”

“That’s right. This icing… the way it melts gently in your mouth is truly magnificent.”

For a while, Resena and the vice guild master enjoyed the madeleines. After tasting the madeleine covered in chocolate icing and washing it down with candy black tea, it felt like they had nothing to envy.

Resena, feeling the drowsiness gradually coming over her, sank into the sofa. Since Eldis had departed for the holy land Lemordus, she couldn’t sleep due to worry about him, and after working during the day, she couldn’t help feeling sleepy.

‘Like this, I’m waiting for Eldis’s letter…’

Eldis.

The memory of their first kiss was so vivid. The memory of Eldis diving deep with his soft, moist lips clearly flashed through her mind.

Resena touched her lips and lowered her gaze. The vice guild master was saying something from across the seat, but due to drowsiness, she nodded off without hearing most of his words.

“…Will it be okay?”

At Resena’s words, the vice guild master realized that she wasn’t properly listening to him. She seemed tired, so perhaps he should talk later.

“Miss, you look very tired. Why don’t you rest now? You’ve finished all the paperwork anyway.”

“Maybe I should… But if I fall asleep here, I feel like I won’t be able to sleep at night again…”

“……”

The vice guild master stood up. Looking closely, dark circles had settled deeply under his guild master’s eyes. Her already pale skin looked even whiter, making her appear more tired.

“How much have you been unable to sleep at night? Your face is completely blue.”

“Hmm. Something like sleeping at 5 and waking up around 10?”

“That means you’ve been staying up all night. Go to sleep right away. The rest of the reports aren’t urgent, so I’ll submit them later.”

“Alright… I understand.”

Resena got up and left the office. Feeling sleepy, she covered her mouth to yawn and staggered forward. Since her office and room were on the same floor, Resena entered her room after just a few minutes and collapsed onto the bed.

‘Eldis…’

Even while drowsy, Resena closed her eyes, thinking of him.

Eldis didn’t appear even in her dreams.

After sleeping soundly for several hours, Resena opened her eyes in the dark room. By now, moonlight had crept in through the long windows.

“Yawn… I slept well.”

But it seemed like she should sleep again soon. Looking at the time, it was already 10:30. Resena stretched and went out to the balcony.

The rainy season hadn’t ended yet, but since it wasn’t raining now, a cool breeze brushed past her ears. Resena enjoyed the rose fragrance carried by the wind as she looked down at the garden illuminated by night lights.

“Who do I want to choose?”

Vernas, whom she naturally found herself following?

“Or Eldis, who keeps pursuing me?”

Choosing either one would mean abandoning the other, which would be difficult for her. Resena felt a tightness in one side of her chest as she silently gazed at the garden for a while.

It was a night when the half-moon shone brightly. Resena raised her head to look at the sky. Stars twinkled, and in one area, a star fell, trailing a long tail. In her previous life, she might have made a wish, but now she didn’t feel like wishing.

Now, rather than stars, she wanted to rely on God.

“Lord Sernaus. Please protect Eldis…”

She doesn’t want him to lose his life in the holy land Lemordus. Knowing that the main deity Sernaus was watching over the human world, she felt that even if Eldis set foot in the holy land, he wouldn’t lose his life, but she still felt uneasy.

Until now, when there were unknown variables, she had broken through with her own conjectures. But for Eldis entering Lemordus and overcoming his own trials, there wasn’t even a single thread for her conjectures to weave into. She could only hope that he would do well and pray that he would break through the curtain of trials.

“…Sigh.”

With a worried sigh, Resena rose from the railing. Returning to the room, her now clear eyes made it difficult to fall asleep again. Resena tried lying on the bed but kept tossing and turning.

“Maybe I should read a book. …No. Maybe I’ll look at my diary.”

The diary where she had written down everything she experienced during her regression had changed to become close to a massive file, but it was good for occasionally checking how things were progressing. And she could also check things she had forgotten about what would happen in the future.

Resena took out the diary from the drawer and turned on the light. Sitting on the bed and opening to the September page, she soon recalled what she had forgotten.

“Come to think of it, Tom Baker kills a knight named Jerome at the Founding Festival. A knowledgeable knight who served as an advisor to the male lead… An older knight with good skills but more suited to a staff role.”

So the male lead, having lost him, suffers for days, staying up all night.

‘Moreover, at that time, they didn’t know that the serial killer Tom Baker was a former knight with military experience and a member of the guard, so more damage occurred. As a result, knights deployed to the guard are killed, and the male lead loses many knights he could rely on.’

Eldis, being naturally kind-hearted, accumulates the agony of not being able to protect them. And in the end, he explodes after losing the female lead as well.

“…In some ways, this place is crueler than reality.”

Resena quietly recalled her previous life.
