Kill me.

Just kill me.

If you’re going to abandon me,

and go back to that man,

if you’re going to disappear from me like this,

then just kill me.

Kill me and go.

Please, end this dreadful torment and leave.

Finish me like that.

End me.

I couldn’t breathe at all. None of my functioning organs were doing their job. My brain was already shredded, my heart was battered, and my stomach had been burnt away.

So, Herix’s end was bound to be Ivonne’s doing.

At that moment, Herix’s eyes flew open. The purple eyes, shedding red tears of blood, stared vacantly into the void. They say a person can never strangle themselves to death, but perhaps that’s not true; Herix’s face was as red as if it were about to burst, and the blood vessels in his eyes had all burst from the pressure.

Yet, Herix was not afraid of this death.

Ah, such a dreadful emotion.

My end is Ivonne’s.

The person who killed me is Ivonne.

Finally, it’s Ivonne who has finished me.

Can this be called love? How great is love to be able to embrace even the twisted, decayed, and messy insides that have become so repulsive? Or maybe, at this very moment, that great love is failing.

Ivonne must be the one to kill me. Just as I did, Ivonne must do the same. I’m not allowed to kill myself. Only Ivonne can do that. I am alive for that purpose. So, I mustn’t die now. It would be an unforgivable sin, a new form of torment would begin. Ivonne must be the one to kill me. It has to be Ivonne.

How could this terrible abyss be called love?

Herix dropped his hand.

“Ugh…”

The rapidly rushing oxygen caused his shriveled lungs to expand. His entire body hurt as if it would burst. It would have been more comfortable to strangle himself again. But Herix did not do that. With his weakened hand, he only wiped away the blood-red bruises on his neck.

However, the world is full of various kinds of obsession, different kinds of compulsions in relationships, and diverse forms of love. So, it might be reasonable to say that the reason Herix hasn’t died yet is due to those very obsessions, compulsions, and love.

“……”

Herix, who had been staring at the ceiling, was now slumped over on the sofa. He remained kneeling with one cheek resting on the sofa, gazing blankly at the armrest.

There was no longer any warmth from Ivonne’s presence on his cheek. The soft yet firm thigh, the sound of muscles moving, the voice that had poured over him, the laughter that used to tickle him when he buried his face between her legs—none of it could be heard now.

Yet, Herix remained, quietly tracing every trace of her.

He slowly closed his eyes. Similarly, he slowly exhaled and inhaled. In the empty Tens Mansion, left by Ivonne, Herix continued to breathe. Thus, he lived on. And so, it was time for him to die.

“I’ll… hold on a little longer.”

The voice whispering softly was filled with despair. The sensation remaining in his hand was the feeling of gripping someone’s neck. But regrettably, it wasn’t Herix’s own neck he had just grasped. It was more fragile and delicate, breaking with the slightest pressure.

“……Ivonne.”

He truly needed to find Ivonne, the one who had abandoned him, to make her his end.

While staying with Isaac, Ivonne learned many new stories. As Isaac was originally from this world and an ancient wizard of commoner origin, he knew a lot of interesting tales not found in the original story.

“By the way, it’s surprising. I didn’t expect Junior to not know the founding myth of the Sortenic Empire.”

Among these stories was the founding myth of the Sortenic Empire, something that every citizen of the empire knew. As Ivonne listened with a curious and fascinated expression, a sudden feeling of embarrassment crossed her face.

“Ah, um. That’s…”

What should she say to cover it up? While she was pondering, Isaac lowered his voice as if he knew everything.

“Is it because of the previous Count Ulfest?”

“Pardon?”

“Isn’t it? You mentioned before that the previous Count Ulfest didn’t particularly like you because you were a commoner.”

“Uh…”

Ivonne blinked blankly.

‘Did I say something like that?’

Had Ivonne, in her possessed state, ever shared stories about her childhood in the Ulfest family with others? The answer was no. Knowing something from reading the original story and experiencing it firsthand are like night and day. So, it was wiser to remain silent rather than speak prematurely and cause suspicion.

‘I didn’t even mention it to Larissa…’

Ivonne was puzzled, but she couldn’t ignore the opportunity presented to her.

“Ah, um. Yes. So, I really only received basic education.”

“Well, that makes sense then. Usually, founding myths are told by parents at bedtime.”

Isaac nodded thoughtfully, then quickly closed his mouth.

His words only served as a reminder that Ivonne was an orphan. Or perhaps he intended to ignore it. Isaac’s dark green eyes studied Ivonne’s pale face. He cautiously apologized, as if sensing his mistake.
