“Isaac, you’ve been thinking about something else lately. What’s troubling you?”

Ivonne said, looking a bit cautious. At just thirteen years old, it was hard to tell whether she was acting so mature because of Isaac’s influence or because the soul inside her was Novnie. She seemed so grown-up.

“Uncle Izel said that if it’s hard for us to live on our own, we can come live with him and he’ll help. So…”

Ivonne went on, telling him not to overdo it, but her words didn’t quite reach Isaac. His complexion grew paler with each passing moment.

Isaac could clearly see it. The strength from him leaving onto Ivonne’s grasp, returning to Novnie’s soul inside her.

“Yes, I’m fine. So let go.”

Isaac said softly, and Ivonne, with a worried expression, released her hold. At that moment, the force that had been absorbed by Novnie was cut off. Isaac silently exhaled while watching this.

‘Novnie… is trying to take her power back from me.’

Right now, Novnie was asleep inside Ivonne’s body. So, this was all happening unconsciously. In other words, there was nothing to prevent it. The power Isaac had was originally Novnie’s, so it wasn’t strange at all for it to return to its rightful owner.

‘But if this keeps happening, I…’

Ivonne looked up at Isaac with concern, but he couldn’t smile. His face was filled with confusion as he clenched his fists.

‘I became a god with Novnie’s power. But if all that power is taken back by Novnie, then… am I really still a god?’

Moreover, the more the power was taken from Isaac, the stronger Ivonne became. Isaac could feel it. Ivonne had always had extraordinary magical talent, but now her potential was beyond measure. Perhaps Ivonne could rival ancient wizards.

‘It’s better…to keep my distance.’

Isaac made a decision he had been putting off for the past year. He should have made this decision long ago.

‘I’ve already lost a lot of power.’

Though her skills were still rough and unpolished, to anyone who didn’t know her, Ivonne already seemed like an incredible wizard.

“Isaac, are we really going to live with Uncle Izel? I think it might be better that way…”

Ivonne whispered while tapping the tips of her index fingers together. Isaac knew what she was worried about. Despite Isaac being a god and Ivonne being a powerful ancient wizard, to others, they were just a thirteen-year-old girl and a sixteen-year-old boy. They were still at an age where they needed adult protection, the age when children want to rely on adults and be pampered.

“Um… I’ll think about it.”

Isaac replied. At that, Ivonne’s face lit up with a bright smile.

Ivonne clearly needed an adult for other reasons as well.

‘She must want to find the memories of the body’s original owner that were erased when Novnie entered.’

For example, she might want to find the parents she can’t remember. Since it seemed Isaac wasn’t planning to help, it was clear she was thinking of relying on the power of adults.

Indeed, Ivonne was sharp. But unfortunately, she was already in Isaac’s palm. And Isaac wasn’t concerned with Ivonne’s wishes.

‘What’s the most effective way to keep Novnie trapped?’

All Isaac wanted was Novnie.

It was around this time that news reached Isaac’s ears about Blitzen Ulfest, who, despite having no magical talent, was being questioned about his qualifications as an heir. A troubling incident from Yucorallini Island had turned into gossip and made its way to the Ortensia Republic.

‘A noble from the Sortenic Empire with no magical talent…’

As Isaac read the foreign newspaper, he thought to himself.

‘And if this child is ashamed of his lack of talent… yes. He’ll try to hold onto Ivonne. He needs her to be acknowledged as the heir and become a Count.’

The breeze felt refreshing. His heart felt light and clear, as if a burden had been lifted. Without delay, Isaac called Ivonne and had her sit in front of him.

“We’re going to the Sortenic Empire.”

“Huh? Not to Uncle Izel’s house?”

“Yes. We’re going to the Sortenic Empire. And…”

“And…?”

Isaac’s hesitation in finishing his sentence puzzled Ivonne, who tilted her head in curiosity. She looked so cute, but Isaac didn’t offer any explanation. He had belatedly realized that Ivonne didn’t need to know everything.

“Then when are we going to the Sortenic Empire? I heard it’s a country with advanced magic. Can I become a wizard too? Uncle Izel said it was amazing that I could use magic without a wand. He said it would have been nice if there was someone who knew more about magic.”

Ivonne chattered away. But Isaac didn’t address her questions. He had no intention of continuing the conversation.

“For now, we’re going to the Sortenic Empire right away.”

“Hmm? Ah, but I haven’t even said goodbye to Uncle Izel, and what about Eugene and Beryl…?”

Ivonne began listing the names of people she had grown close to, counting them on her fingers.
