“Ivonne disappeared… So I… So… I was wrong. But I… I kept waiting… kept waiting for Ivonne to be kind. Ivonne told me not to do anything, not to die. You just wanted to bring the world back… to turn it back and wait…”

Herix mumbled incoherently, his black hair being gently stroked by small, white hands, just as it had been before Ivonne had ordered him to kill her.

‘Herix… I still can’t forgive him for ignoring the children’s danger back then. But now I understand why he did that.’

Before thinking of the children, it seemed he was once again afraid that Ivonne would have to disappear to another dimension because of Isaac. Even though he had witnessed Blitzen’s actions, he had chosen to stand by and watch, fearful of Ivonne giving the same punishment again.

‘If I have to shed my human form again because of Isaac… I will have to ask Herix for the same favor.’

It wasn’t possible to create a new transcendent, but it was more efficient to borrow the power of an already existing transcendent.

‘Still, that was too much for the children.’

She decided to revisit this issue later, perhaps with a harsh talk. As Ivonne continued to stroke his hair, Herix, bolstered by her touch, slowly regained his breath and calmed down.

This was originally the room where Novnie, who had fallen asleep in the orb, resided. Now, with Ivonne gone, the fact that Herix was here, restless and fidgeting, meant…

“You thought I would come to set everything right, didn’t you?”

“I got the information that Ivonne was in the tower…”

Sniffling, Herix spoke in a whiny voice, his face resting on Ivonne’s shoulder.

“And Isaac… is also there?”

Herix nodded. He added that he had come here, waiting for Ivonne to make her next move. Ivonne paused and then asked,

“But I could have ended up in Isaac’s hands, couldn’t I?”

“But… Ivonne, you said it yourself. You said it was something you had to do, and that I… couldn’t.”

No matter what, as a human, Herix couldn’t do it. Only Ivonne, the god, had to step in. Aiden had become her enemy.

— Until I return, you mustn’t do anything.

Herix’s voice, which had never forgotten their conversation, sank heavily.

“And Ivonne, you won. You beat him, just like I believed you would. You promised me you’d come back… I believed you’d win…”

Still, waiting was hard. Herix pouted.

“So, why did you disguise yourself? You wanted to be called Herix, didn’t you? From the start.”

“That… well, maybe… I wasn’t sure. When I… changed into a fox, Ivonne was taking care of me, it didn’t look like you had truly returned.”

“So, you transformed into a fox to check how much I had returned?”

“I was testing… I’m sorry. Still, I wanted to help Ivonne… I tried to hold back wanting you to call my name…”

Herix, with a look that seemed to ask for forgiveness, nuzzled his forehead into Ivonne’s neck.

Ivonne lifted his face to meet his gaze. It was clear that her touch was what kept him alive. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be blushing like this, showing off his beauty while asking for more attention.

“You’re beautiful.”

From his shy yet sincere gaze, filled with blind trust, Ivonne couldn’t help but let out the laugh she had been holding in earlier. His purple eyes, which she had once found decadent, now appeared to be so pure when she truly looked at them.

‘Right, Herix was this kind of person.’

The person who believed that her simple promise to come back was the truth, and who continued to return to the transcendent body, wishing to help a world without a god. The person who carried the burden of even a command to kill Ivonne, if it had been her will.

“Ivonne doesn’t make mistakes. She’s not wrong, and she’s not bad. Everything… it’s the fault of those who made Ivonne make those choices.”

His whisper was sincere, and at the same time, it was so loving. He loved Ivonne as the most divine being, yet also as the most human. That contradictory man was the one Ivonne loved—Herix. Without thinking, she impulsively kissed him.

“Huh, Ivonne…”

Herix groaned. He drank in the kiss she initiated as if it was nectar and savored it sweetly. Even the saliva that flowed between their lips seemed sacred as he eagerly licked it all up. His desire to swallow Ivonne whole was clearly visible in his actions.

“I waited… I waited.”

Whenever their lips parted, the sound of love filled the space between them. His thick, strong arms pulled Ivonne’s waist, lifting her to sit on top of him.

Oh, how comforting was the weight she had longed for. It felt as if she was wrapped in a soft quilt, and her heart found peace. Between their interrupted kisses, a long silver thread connected them. Herix, with a dazed expression, looked up at her.

“You’ll praise me… right?”

He said desperately. When Ivonne didn’t answer, his thick, dark eyebrows slightly furrowed.

“I did everything wrong…”

“Then you must be punished.”

As she kissed his shiny lower lip, Herix lightly sucked on her upper lip.

“I’ll take it all. I’ll take it all, but before that… just one thing.”

“…”

“I waited… quietly… for you.”

His whisper was thick with emotion, and his voice cracked with tears.

“Then, no matter what punishment it is… I’ll take it… and wait again…”
