Chapter 215
Herix was certain he knew what choice Ivonne would make next.
Ivonne gently cupped his cheek, studying the tearful, handsome face in front of her with meticulous attention. It was as if she wanted to look at him longer, more deeply, and engrave the person Herix into her mind.
“…Good job.”
Her thumb brushed lightly across his tear-streaked eyes, wiping away the tears.
“You waited quietly, patiently.”
She whispered, “Let’s go to your room.” Their lips, which had briefly parted, desperately met again. Their hands, tugging at each other’s clothes, were fierce.
It was a joy that felt like her entire insides were consumed by the burning flames. Tears gathered in her eyes from the dull ache, and the strong suction left bruises on her skin, making her dry lips part. She didn’t even have time to take in the sight of Herix’s room as she entered.
“Herix…!”
The woman’s eager sobs.
“Ah, Ivonne…”
The man’s satisfied groans.
The wet skin meeting with a wet, audible slap…
When everything merged together, they loved each other as if their passion exploded. If affection were to take the form of a solo dance, no one would have survived to fill this barren room with their presence—it was thick and overwhelming.
As the saying goes, they consumed each other completely, with no gaps left.

Blink, blink…Her eyes stirred open. The first thing she saw was the familiar skin, and the first thing she heard was the sound of kisses falling onto her skin. There was no need to question who it was.
“…Her, ix.”
Her throat burned with a sharp sting. The man, who had been trailing his hands down her shoulders and forearms, glanced up.
“You’re awake?”
His sleepy eyes, slightly languid than usual, were filled with warmth.
“Yes…”
Ivonne reached out, wanting to caress his now even smoother face, but her body screamed in protest from the aftermath. It was only natural after she had thrown herself into such a passionate love.
“Don’t move. You’ve definitely overdone it.”
Herix, noticing her condition, spoke with a slightly shy expression. Still, the joy that appeared in his reddened eyes couldn’t be hidden. The fact that he had caused Ivonne to become this way, that it was because of their time together, seemed to fill him with happiness.
“Then, let me rest a little longer.”
Ivonne, pretending to give in, snuggled back into his arms. Herix’s chest swelled and deflated, as if deeply moved.
No, in truth, he was even happier about something else.
‘I don’t want just a little rest, I want her to rest for a long time…’
That was his way of saying he wanted to delay the moment when she would leave. If only he could stretch this moment into eternity, he thought he would be okay even if death awaited him at the end.
For a while, Herix kissed Ivonne’s hair, but she suddenly asked him,
“How much did you find out?”
It was an unexpected question, but Herix answered without hesitation.
“That Aiden is my biological brother.”
“So you know everything.”
“…I had nothing else to do.”
His voice lowered. But that was all, and he didn’t seem as troubled as Ivonne had feared.
‘No, wait… maybe not…?’
The words Herix had spoken earlier flashed through Ivonne’s mind.
“You said the world was turned back. Was that a regression or a loop?”
Regression and loop seem similar but are slightly different. A loop revolves around characters, while regression revolves around the world and the characters in it.
“It’s regression.”
Which meant Herix had also returned to the past, growing up while walking through time just like the world. Over and over again. Until Ivonne returned.
“When did you find out?”
“First… when I regressed.”
“And now…?”
“Probably… it hasn’t been four digits yet.”
He had become numb to it. After learning that Aiden was the “brother” who had come to his basement, Herix had spent countless years, growing indifferent to the passage of time.
“It was painful.”
When Ivonne reached out, Herix quickly lowered his head and pressed his cheek to her palm. The way he gently rubbed his face against her hand reminded her of a small, affectionate animal.
“How… was it?”
When Ivonne asked cautiously, Herix kissed her palm, rolling his eyes but not saying anything. The look in his eyes was inscrutable, as if reflecting the many years of his regressions.
“At first… I didn’t want to believe it. And… honestly, I tried to reverse it. I tried going back to when I was very young. But I ended up killing you, Ivonne.”
Herix’s face twisted, as though the mere utterance of it was painful.
“Becoming the killer, and somehow becoming almost a transcendent being, I found that I was free from the Emperor’s curse, and could regress. But, at the start, I was caught so many times and couldn’t grow, and the world kept turning around, again and again.”
“…”
“I tried to clear up the misunderstandings with Aiden during this process. But… Aiden remained as a black shadow. Just like with you. That shadow wasn’t Aiden, nor was it you. But everyone treated that shadow as Aiden and you. I… I couldn’t even see it.”
“The absence of those not in this world was filled like that, so you couldn’t clear up the misunderstandings…”
Ivonne looked at him with pity. The next question, though so obvious, was one she always wanted to hear the answer to.
