When I froze with a startled expression, he deliberately brightened his tone to change the mood.

“As a way of becoming friends, let me show you something interesting.”

I looked at him blankly.

Then he gave me that familiar gentle smile and carefully held out his hand.

“If you smile after seeing this, we’re friends from then on, alright?”

There was nothing on his outstretched palm. As I looked at his hand in puzzlement, he began gathering energy above it.

The power of the Ice Spirit.

It was an ability he had often shown me in my previous life.

Tiny snow crystals began fluttering above his hand.

A tiny world of falling snow spread across his palm.

“Isn’t it fascinating?”

“…Yes.”

As I gazed at the tiny world unfolding above his hand, memories from my previous life came flooding back before I knew it.

‘What if only you and I existed in this little world I made?’

‘Wouldn’t it be boring?’

‘Would it?’

His warm smile as he laughed so brightly.

‘…I think I’d be so happy.’

I had been grateful for his wholehearted love, but because there had always been something weighing on one corner of my heart, I had never truly smiled for him.

And yet, he had always been endlessly warm toward me.

A kind man who never rushed me and always waited in silence.

Yes, perhaps someone like him truly did want to become friends with me out of pure intentions.

Before I knew it, my doubts and wariness faded, and a bitter smile spread across my lips.

That was when it happened.

“What are you doing out here after leaving the banquet hall?”

A familiar voice came from nearby.

Startled, I turned my head and saw Kallion leaning against a lamppost with his arms crossed, glaring at us.

“Were you enjoying a secret rendezvous with another man in a secluded garden?”

Kallion’s heavily subdued voice rang low.

At that, Lloyd, who had been standing quietly, stepped in front of me.

“Your husband seems to be badly misunderstanding the situation, but it’s nothing like that.”

At the sight of Lloyd stepping forward as though to defend me, Kallion tilted his head slightly.

“I’m asking my wife.”

Was this what they meant when they said the guilty party gets angry first?

I let out a deep sigh and lightly tugged on Lloyd’s arm. It was a signal telling him not to intervene.

Kallion watched closely as I carefully held Lloyd’s forearm.

“Please go back inside.”

“But Madam…”

Lloyd gave me a protesting look.

“This has nothing to do with you. Please give us some privacy so I can speak with my husband.”

At my firm response, Lloyd, who had been standing there like a statue, finally let out a faint sigh.

“Understood. I hope your husband doesn’t misunderstand.”

Still looking worried that I might end up in an awkward situation, Lloyd reluctantly turned away.

I watched Lloyd’s retreating back for a moment, then turned toward Kallion.

He was staring down at me.

“You seem rather close to Silverstel’s second son.”

“I properly spoke to him for the first time today.”

“For someone you only met today, that man’s gaze was rather familiar.”

I let out a faint sigh at the way he spoke as though he’d already decided Lloyd and I knew each other.

I couldn’t understand why I had to explain something like this to him in the first place.

“Were we ever close enough to ask each other about our private affairs?”

At my cold remark, Kallion pressed his lips together.

Then, after glaring at me for a long moment, he asked quietly.

“What were the two of you talking about?”

“I don’t think I have any reason to tell you that either.”

At my sharp response, he let out a hollow laugh.

Then he twisted his lips into his usual cold expression.

“Silverstel’s second son. He wouldn’t be a bad choice for a lover. If anything, isn’t he too good for you?”

My clenched fist tightened instantly.

Unlike Kallion, who could sleep with someone he had no feelings for, Lloyd was a pure and decent man.

And in my previous life, I had ruined a man like that.

If he had never met me, Lloyd wouldn’t have been unhappy.

The thought of Kallion insulting someone like him made anger surge through me.

“Don’t drag him into something like that.”

‘He’s not someone you can speak of so carelessly.’

Misunderstanding my warning, Kallion frowned before curling his lips.

“Why? Did I hit the mark?”

The situation itself, having to explain my relationship with Lloyd to Kallion, was absurd.

The person who had embraced Layla and disappeared in front of countless witnesses was now suspicious of me merely because I’d had one single conversation with someone.
