Chapter 75
“What?”
As the head of House Schultz stupidly asked again, unable to understand what Kallion meant, the doors to the estate suddenly burst open with a tremendous crash.
Bang-!
Soldiers bearing Baldomer’s crest poured inside.
At the sudden turn of events, the head of House Schultz stared blankly between the onrushing soldiers and Kallion.
“W-What is…”
Before he could even finish speaking, Baldomer’s soldiers seized his arms, forced them behind him, and began binding him.
“W-Why are you doing this! Lord Kallion! Even you can’t treat someone who has been loyal to Baldomer like this!”
Kallion twisted his lips.
“Loyal to Baldomer?”
The head of House Schultz flinched beneath Kallion’s murderous dark violet gaze.
“And yet you leaked information to Silverstel?”
“W-What are you…”
The head of House Schultz had been about to deny it when his gaze landed on Jared, who was now standing beside Kallion.
“Don’t tell me it was you, you bastard!”
Jared merely kept his head bowed in silence.
“You son of a b***h. How dare you bite the hand that fed you?”
Even with his arms restrained by the soldiers, the head of House Schultz struggled violently.
Kallion twisted his lips into a sneer.
“Head of House Schultz, shouldn’t I be the one saying that?”
“L-Lord Kallion! It isn’t true! Surely you don’t think I would betray Baldomer!”
As though he had expected that response, Kallion pulled out the order bearing House Schultz’s seal.
Normally, orders like this were supposed to be burned after they were received.
And now that order had fallen into Kallion’s hands.
Realizing there was no longer any way to deny it, the head of House Schultz clenched his teeth and struggled.
“Even you cannot treat me this way! Summon the head of House Baldomer!”
At the mention of his father, Kallion’s expression turned icy.
“You know very well that Father has entrusted all authority to me.”
Pitch-black energy began rippling from his body.
Merely looking at it was enough to make the mind go faint.
It was the energy of the Dark Spirit controlled by Baldomer.
The head of House Schultz turned pale as though the energy itself were suffocating him.
“You dare bring up my father in front of me. It seems you have no desire to live.”
“I-I was wrong…”
His complexion went beyond white to blue as he trembled violently.
Then choking sounds escaped his throat, and he abruptly lost consciousness.
Kallion looked down at the head of House Schultz as though he were less than an insect and spoke indifferently.
“From this day forward, all authority and assets belonging to House Schultz are to be seized.”
At his cold voice, the soldiers waiting nearby answered in unison and immediately began moving.
* * *
The estate had been noisy since morning.
According to Kate, Kallion had left the estate leading Baldomer’s private soldiers.
Soldiers, in a situation like this.
I even wondered whether he had become convinced that I was the culprit and marched an army toward Heister.
A war between Heister and Baldomer.
It would be perfect if they went to war and both destroyed each other.
Of course, I still needed him for Denion.
While I was entertaining such pointless thoughts, Kate suddenly burst through the door.
“M-Madam!”
I looked at the visibly flustered Kate curiously.
“L-Lord Kallion is asking for you!”
Unlike Kate, whose face had gone pale, I rose slowly with an expression devoid of emotion.
“Wait in the room.”
I patted the anxious Kate’s shoulder and calmly headed toward his office.
When I knocked and entered, he seemed to have only just returned to the estate and was taking off his coat to hang it up.
“I heard you called for me.”
I no longer had the energy to argue against the suspicion that I had stolen Baldomer’s information.
Even if I told him I hadn’t done it, he wouldn’t believe me anyway.
All I wanted now was to finish what we had failed to do before and conceive Denion as quickly as possible.
Kallion stared steadily at me for a moment before slowly speaking.
“Why aren’t you defending yourself?”
I answered indifferently, looking at him as he somehow seemed angry.
“What do you mean…?”
“Why aren’t you actively defending yourself and saying you didn’t do it? Why aren’t you saying you weren’t the one who leaked the information?”
“Does my defense matter?”
At my numb gaze, Kallion raised his voice as though anger were surging inside him.
“Don’t you feel wronged? Everyone is accusing you of being the culprit.”
