The temple’s administrative space was arranged like an ordinary office. Eden had never had an office herself as a Demon Hunter, but she’d seen nobles working out of rooms like this while coming and going for commissions.

“Excuse me. I came because I wanted to check some records.”

When Eden knocked on the open door, the priest seated at the desk furthest in the back lifted his head from the paperwork he was buried in.

“I’m busy, who’s…”

He grumbled out of habit, but his eyes widened when he recognized Eden’s face. The White-Haired Witch. Even without asking, that white hair alone was enough to give her identity away.

“Wow. What an honor to meet the famous Hunter!”

The priest smiled brightly and spread his arms wide as if welcoming her. Eden was a renowned Demon Hunter with such excellent skills that if not for her curse, she might have been scouted into the Knights of the Holy Order. Despite the brutal nature of her work, she was strikingly beautiful, and even had followers within the temple.

“What brings you here?”

“Ah, I was wondering if there’s someone named Bezel among the people belonging to the temple.”

“Bezel? Just a moment.”

The priest approached the bookshelf at the very corner of the office and pulled out a massive ledger that had to be at least twenty centimeters thick. Grunting under its weight, he brought it back and opened it, flipping to the page labeled ‘B.’

“It’s not a common name, so I should be able to find it quickly…. Ah, here we go. Still, since there are so many priests belonging to the temple, there are two entries.”

Eden looked at the part he was pointing to with his finger. One was a forty-year-old man, and the other was a woman.

‘There’s no way that face belongs to someone in their forties, and I saw his d**k swinging, so he’s not a woman either.’

The temple was a kind of headquarters for all priests, high priests, and Holy Knights dispatched throughout the provinces. So if his name wasn’t here, it meant Bezel wasn’t someone who belonged to the temple.

“That’s strange. He has divine power, so why isn’t he affiliated with the temple?”

“Hm? The person you’re looking for has divine power?”

The priest’s eyes rounded at the mention of such a rare talent even the temple had difficulty finding. He looked genuinely surprised, but to Eden, who was hiding something precious at home, it looked like a thief drooling.

‘If Bezel never belonged to the temple, then there’s no reason I have to hand him over.’

She narrowed her eyes and shot a cold glare at the priest.

“Don’t covet him. He’s mine.”

“…People aren’t property. And I didn’t ask for him either.”

“Glad to hear you have no intention of taking him away.”

In any case, that wrapped up all her business at the temple. Eden couldn’t decide whether to feel relieved that she didn’t have to give Bezel back, or disappointed that she hadn’t found any helpful information about his memory.

“Are there cases where someone has divine power but isn’t affiliated with the temple?”

“Of course. In the case of nobles, inheriting a title is much better than becoming a High Priest. No matter how well high priests are treated, it doesn’t compare to a hereditary title, does it?”

“Hmm.”

Eden recalled Bezel’s radiant appearance. His fine golden hair and flawless skin definitely looked like someone who had been cared for and raised well.

Maybe the priest was right. Bezel could be a noble who had divine power but chose not to become a high priest in order to inherit a title.

“Or he could be someone who lived his whole life without knowing he had divine power. It’s not like people normally have any reason to sense or use it in daily life.”

That sounded plausible too. He had lived without knowing what kind of power he possessed, and only awakened when his life was in danger.

‘Somehow, the more I try to narrow down who he is, the broader the possibilities seem to get.’

Oh well, whatever. When the time comes, he’ll remember who he is on his own.

“Anyway, thank you. You helped me so kindly even though I showed up suddenly.”

“Oh no, if I was able to help a Hunter like you, then I’m the one honored.”

Eden helped the priest put the book away, bowed her head, then left the office. Since she didn’t want to just leave, she made a donation and waited to receive a blessing from a bishop-level priest.

When she didn’t have time, she’d buy pre-blessed items from the shops outside, but those came with hefty distribution markups. It was better to receive blessings at the temple whenever she came like this.

By the time everything was done, it was already evening.

Once her busy body came to a stop, the pain she had forgotten returned. Eden grimaced and dug into her pocket for a sansho leaf. She popped it into her mouth and chewed. Her mouth tingled as the anesthetic effect spread.

“I bought him clothes, ran all over the place trying to help him get his memory back. I think that’s enough to ask for some treatment now, right?”

Muttering her shameless thoughts brazenly, Eden headed back the way she came.

Perhaps it was because she knew someone who could ease her pain was waiting at home. Her steps felt especially light as she walked back home at the end of the day.
