Chapter 36
Marbas was a demon powerful enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with Lucifer, who reigned practically as the king of Hell. The problem was that he could only come close to standing shoulder to shoulder, never truly as an equal.
No matter how hard Marbas tried, he couldn’t overcome the difference in power determined from birth. His overreaching ambition made him regard that fact as a humiliation.
This Hell that could never be his anyway. Let it just roll however it wants.
It was while Marbas was slacking off as usual, dumping all his work on Asmodeus. Suddenly a magic circle drawn in blood appeared beneath his feet and a gate to the human realm opened. A powerful force pulled him inside the gate, and when he came to his senses, he was in the human realm.
The humans who summoned him treated him with utmost devotion. Every single day they offered living humans as sacrifices, and if he told them to dance they danced, if he told them to sing they sang. When he told them to crawl naked like dogs, they fetched collars and put their leashes into his hand.
This was a different kind of fun from tormenting demons in Hell. However, his interest, as always, didn’t last very long. Just when everything became boring and he was thinking he should find a way back to Hell, a brilliant idea suddenly struck him.
‘Wait. If I go back to Hell, I’ll just be Lucifer’s lackey again…. Wouldn’t it be better to become number one here instead?’
If he did say so himself, it was a brilliant idea. Marbas immediately commanded his followers.
‘How many sacrifices are left? Can we reopen the gate with those sacrifices?’
‘Of course. If it’s not enough, we’ll catch more to fill the number of sacrifices.’
The gates of Hell reopened. This time, the demon they summoned was Asmodeus, Marbas’s right hand and strategist.
As soon as Asmodeus descended to the human realm, he fulfilled his duty as strategist. To Marbas’s carelessly thrown words, ‘I’ll become number one here,’ spoken as casually as a child stating their future dream, Asmodeus added framework and flesh, completing a grand plan.”
‘If you just follow this, you’ll be able to seize this land as you desire.’
That plan had now reached its final stages. Just a little more time and the human realm would completely belong to Marbas.
The thirty-six legions of Hell were waiting for his command. When the day of judgment finally came and the gates opened…
“Please endure just a little longer, Lord Marbas. The day this human realm transforms into a new Hell is not far off.”
Asmodeus couldn’t hide his rising excitement and laughed, his shoulders shaking. The middle-aged man’s scraping voice filled the bedroom, rough and grating on the ears.
“Definitely a crazy pervert.”
Marbas shook his head as he watched him, then went into the bathroom and shut the door.

Night passed and morning came once again. Bezel sat across from Eden at the dining table in awkward silence.
After the story about Marbas’s grand plan ended the previous day, the information Andre had conveyed about Eden’s taste in men was this:
‘That woman Eden, her taste is exactly this: Day-Night Loser!’ [1]
‘Day-Night… what?’
‘Oh come on. Day-Night Loser. It’s a new phrase trending among incubi these days, meaning someone who’s submissive both day and night.’
Bezel’s expression hardened at this bizarre abbreviation he’d never heard before in his life. Andre, finding his reaction amusing, giggled and continued with a detailed explanation.
‘She seems to like gentle, kind men. Her ex-boyfriend was a Holy Knight, you know? You get the picture, right?’
Ah. With that specific example, he understood perfectly. Maybe because her own personality was so bold and unreserved, she was drawn to quiet and refined men.
After hearing the information about her taste, he understood perfectly. Why Eden had driven him out of the room while tormenting herself.
‘Catering to her preferences even at night isn’t my style.’
While he could wag his tail and pretend to be good during the day, he had no intention of suppressing his desires at night.
Only treating her kindly and giving her teasing kisses was, to compare it to eating, like licking at food without ever chewing it.
If he was going to eat like that, he’d rather not touch it at all. True to his nature as a demon of gluttony, Bezel enjoyed voraciously devouring both food and life force.
‘Well, nighttime preferences can be adjusted gradually… First, I need to win her heart during the day.’
Bezel looked at Eden’s face sitting across from him with a complicated expression. Even now, Bezel was serving Eden breakfast as an extension of his plan to seduce her.
The problem was that despite all this care and effort, Eden hadn’t looked at him even once since coming out of her room.
