Chapter 31
Cassius had never allowed anyone to see him vulnerable. Not even his one and only disciple. Yet there he was, exposed, humiliated, and utterly undone by her.
He felt not just shame but humiliation. His disciple had witnessed his very first climax. Worse, he had released it all over her face.
Thanks to the magic shield, none of it touched her, but the fact that his disciple had seen it scattering across her face was humiliating enough.
“Haa…”
Cassius rubbed his flushed, feverish cheek and sank into troubled thought.
All of this was because of the luck potion.
He was not some degenerate who lusted after his young disciple. Eki had her flaws, but compared to the incompetent mages who could not last a month under his guidance, her persistence alone had earned his respect.
That did not mean he saw her in any kind of indecent light. The only explanation for his sudden reactions toward her had to be the luck potion. There was no other reason.
Even after taking the suppressant, the problem persisted. Something was wrong with his body.
And there was one thing Eki herself had overlooked.
If, as she had once suspected, the luck potion acted according to her desires, then the one meant to face embarrassment should have been Cassius—only Cassius. Yet this time, Eki had become the victim of the potion’s mischief. When Eki’s skirt flipped up, revealing her pale, smooth thighs and underwear, he couldn’t look away.
In truth… this was Cassius’s fault. On the day the ultra-strong luck potion had spilled, he had stepped on some and fallen too.
‘So from that moment, I must have been affected as well.’
But Cassius was no ordinary human. Dragons were naturally resistant to magic potions. Even if some effect took hold, the suppressant he had brewed himself should have kept it minimal. At most, his ‘good fortune’ should have been something trivial like, “My runes are drawing neatly today.” Not this kind of lewd and ridiculous coincidence that Eki kept encountering.
Think about it. Eki was the type to get distracted by beauty and gold, so she might find amusement even in such moments. But Cassius was a reclusive dragon who cared for nothing but magical research.
‘And I’m supposed to believe that seeing Eki’s bare skin is my stroke of luck?’
It was absurd. Impossible. He, a centuries-old archmage dragon, forced to consider himself lucky for glimpsing the underwear of a twenty-seven-year-old disciple?
Cassius’s hand trembled as he gripped his pipe. The strain made veins stand out across the back of his hand, where faint silver scales began to rise.
Feeling the reaction in his lower body persist, Cassius thought, ‘Something’s wrong.’
This was not how the luck potion was supposed to work. It had to be a side effect.
Cassius ended his deliberation and stood.
Ordinarily, he would have left the matter unspoken, as promised in his contract with Eki. She had been frantic while writing it, fearing she might be dismissed, but in truth, it benefited Cassius more to keep silent. If she ever learned that his luck potion was the reason she kept ending up half-naked, his precious disciple would surely run away.
He walked steadily toward the small side table by the window, where a sleek and elegant phonograph rested. With a snap of his fingers, he drew several magic circles in the air and adjusted the device with practiced motions.
Before long, a smooth male voice drifted from the horn.
—Well, well. Look who it is. The proud dragon, Lord Cassius himself.
“Shut it.”
—What’s this? You actually reached out to me?
Cassius’s brows twitched upward, and the restless tension coursing through him began to subside slightly. His irritation was clear in his curt reply.
“It’s because of the luck potion.”
—Hm? The luck potion?
“Yes. You mentioned that the next batch of top-grade luck potions was delayed.”
—Ah, right, I did. You said you spilled some, didn’t you? But you took the suppressant you made, didn’t you? Then you should be fine.
The voice on the other end was soft and lilting, almost melodic like a harp—very unlike Cassius’s heavy, rough tone. Knowing better than to be swayed by the pleasant sound, Cassius answered bluntly.
“Not at all. The effects are behaving strangely.”
—That can’t be right. The formula’s already been tested thoroughly.
“If it had, I wouldn’t be contacting you, Ikelid.”
The man he was speaking to was known by many titles such as ‘Master of Alchemy’, ‘Savior of the Dark Age’, and ‘Guardian of the Kingdom of Gailard’. It was Ikelid, the head of the Gailard Mage Association.
And he was also the creator of the ultra-strong luck potion formula.
“It seems there’s a side effect you don’t know about.”
At Cassius’s firm statement, Ikelid let out a low, curious hum. After a pause, he spoke again, his tone brightening with decision.
—Mind if I come to the Magic Tower?
