Leila had been dreaming of Lucas for a long time, a happy dream where everything she hoped for came true.

In the dream, everything was vivid, and she wandered alone, admiring the blooming flowers. She saw the peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, and the large apple tree flowers that Emma had once described.

She played her violin under those trees, and the melody mingled with the cool breeze, creating the most beautiful sound she had ever heard.

Strangely, though, she couldn’t see him anywhere. He would speak to her and hold her warmly, but she couldn’t make out his face.

Every time she tried to look at him, a blinding light would obscure her view, perhaps because she had never actually seen his face before.

As she muttered to herself, the colorful and vivid surroundings gradually lost their color.

Eventually, they turned black and disappeared, leaving her alone in the darkness.

The sorrow and loneliness were overwhelming. She should have been grateful for having such a good dream before dying, but the regret weighed her down.

The thought of leaving without ever seeing his face made her feel too much regret.

So she sat down and cried her heart out. She wanted to tell him that she appreciated his kindness. Despite his twisted nature, she was grateful for him embracing her when she needed it the most.

People often say you realize someone’s true worth only after losing them. That saying echoed deeply in her mind. She whispered, hoping he could hear her.

“Thank you so much. Honestly, you made my heart flutter many times, Your Grace. Even though it was embarrassing when you washed my face like a child, I didn’t dislike it. I also loved it when you gently massaged me after we made love. Most of all, I loved it when you held me tightly while we slept. Your warmth made up for the lonely times I spent alone.”

She confessed, pouring all her sincerity into her words. She doubted he would ever hear them, but she wanted to empty her heart before leaving.

“Thank you for appreciating my music. And I felt so secure every time you offered a helping hand during difficult times. Truly… thank you, and… my heart beats for you.”

She couldn’t bring herself to say ‘I love you’. It felt like saying those words would make it impossible for her to leave. So she quietly got up and started walking somewhere.

As she wandered through the darkness, she saw a faint light in the distance. It seemed like someone was forcing open a firmly shut door.

Thud, thud—

The door was banged on roughly until it finally swung open. Her vision, accustomed to the darkness, was flooded with bright light.

But through that light, she saw someone rushing in.

As the person’s face came closer, a familiar, gentle voice rang clearly in her ears.

“Wake up, sleepyhead.”

Reflexively, Leila opened her eyes at the sound of Lucas’s voice. Just like in her dream, a piercingly bright light filled her vision.

“Ugh.”

The light was so blinding that she shielded her eyes with the back of her hand. The sound of curtains being drawn shut filled the room.

Unsure of what was happening, Leila slowly opened her eyes again, this time with her hand partially covering them.

Instead of the harsh brightness, she saw a soft, gentle sunlight. Her hand, illuminated by the sunlight, sparkled as if covered in sugar.

“…Huh?”

Leila moved her hand awkwardly in front of her eyes. She blinked, flexing her fingers repeatedly, fascinated by the unfamiliar sensation.

As the awareness spread through her body from head to toe, she realized she could see again.

Overwhelmed with joy, she covered her mouth with both hands to stifle a scream.

Rather than trying to understand how this was possible, she chose to relish the moment. Then, a trembling voice beside her broke through her thoughts.

“…You finally woke up, Leila.”

The voice, as filled with emotion as hers, made Leila turn her head quickly. There, sitting on the edge of the bed, looking down at her, was Lucas.

Even though it was the first time she was seeing his face, she instinctively knew this man was Lucas without anyone telling her.
