No Entry Except for the Master - Chapter 22

So this was why humans committed crimes. After getting her first legal job in the bright world, Lilith finally understood why every money-obsessed master she had ever met had always been up to something illegal.

Earning money legally was extremely, extremely hard—and exhausting!

The rabbit was quickly picking up the human habit of constantly cursing the world. From the morning, her day was packed with etiquette and common-sense lessons led by Teia, and on top of that, she had to act like a dedicated caretaker for the rabbit form of herself.

“Oh my, Lilith. Did you give Lily a bath?”

“Yes. I’m taking her to the room to dry her off.”

“I thought rabbits were supposed to be calm? But I guess not? Your hair is completely soaked.”

Lilith smiled brightly in response to the concerned suggestion that she dry off quickly to avoid catching a cold. She hurried to her room, carrying the hutch tightly wrapped in a black cloth so no one could see inside.

“Haah. The scent was so good today too.”

Recalling the fragrant bath salts she never noticed in rabbit form, Lilith locked the door to Lily’s playroom. After confirming the room was empty, she carelessly set the now-empty hutch on the floor and trudged toward the bed.

Everyone working in the palace was kind and gentle. Even when Lilith fumbled through tasks, they treated her like something cute and always helped her like angels.

Deceiving such kind people made her feel a little guilty, but whenever she thought of Teia’s face, that tiny bit of guilt instantly dried up.

“Rabbits aren’t dirty like humans. That’s just obvious.”

As a rabbit by nature, Lilith hated being in water. She groomed herself diligently morning, noon, and night to stay clean, so why should she have to take baths that were bad for rabbits? That was her argument.

And she did, in fact, possess a peculiar body that stayed clean on its own, unlike the usual human physique. As long as no dirt was deliberately applied from the outside, she remained fluffy and fresh.

But Teia had dismissed her claims, insisting that if she was going to live as a human, he couldn’t tolerate her walking around the palace unwashed.

Another attendant, somewhat knowledgeable about rabbits, supported Lilith’s stance, saying that rabbits shouldn’t be bathed and just needed gentle wipes with a damp towel. But everyone backed down when Teia declared that she was a rare species and therefore unique.

To prevent her from slipping away, Teia publicly added bath time to her schedule. Lilith had no choice but to surrender to his bath routine.

She hated entering the water as a rabbit, so she usually transformed into a human to bathe—and since discovering the bath salts another servant recommended, it was like heaven.

“Still, I like living as a rabbit more.”

She needed to dry her wet hair, but lying down on the bed made her too lazy to move. She could get sick if she didn’t dry off. Though she repeatedly reminded herself of that, Lilith eventually sprawled on the bed and fell asleep.

A few minutes after she drifted off, the securely locked door clicked open. The only one who could unlock the Lily playroom was Teia. He approached Lilith, who was lying on the bed.

Her damp hair suggested she had just finished bathing. Her cheeks were flushed with residual heat. Teia swept aside her wet bangs with a careless hand.

“Oddly lazy. No, blatantly lazy.”

Even those in the palace who had watched Teia grow up and believed him to be an angel weren’t as carefree as she was.

Even if they still thought of him as a greenhouse-raised young master, they understood that he bore the imperial bloodline and was a person on an entirely different level from themselves.

But Lilith, who knew all of Teia’s true nature—that he was a predator who could kill her at any time—still let her guard down around him. In a real wilderness, she’d already have become a carnivore’s meal.

“She’s not fearless, though—she does get nervous sometimes…”

A very strange personality. She would cry her eyes out when teased or scared, but the moment she was gently coaxed, she’d snuggle up obediently again. To Teia, it was an incomprehensible mental world.

Staring at her fair face, Teia pinched her cheek hard. Startled out of her light sleep, Lilith jolted up in shock. At the same moment, her body shrank back into rabbit form.

“Go dry your fur. And you still haven’t fixed that bad habit of switching forms at will?”

Rubbing her cheek with her cute, fluffy forepaws, Lilith looked at him resentfully, but at his scolding, she quickly clamped her mouth shut with a little “Hop!”
