Felix’s mother was Gregory’s niece?

It wasn’t particularly surprising—anyone could tell at a glance that Felix was a noble. But it was still strange to learn that he was related to the Pope by blood.

“As you know, there was an unfortunate incident, so it is not something widely known.”

An unfortunate incident? What was that supposed to mean?

Abel sifted through everything he knew about Felix.

Felix’s name was Felix, not Ryan.

Felix possessed brilliant golden hair and clear blue eyes, and was an extraordinarily beautiful man.

Felix’s divine power was insignificant, and his skill with the sword was mediocre at best, but he was famous for his appearance and had earned the nickname, ‘the Father’s Grace.’

Felix loathed and hated Abel.

Felix was the person Abel loved.

Beyond that, all Abel knew about Felix were a few habits he had picked up from the memories of the time they had spent together.

Felix had a habit of biting his lip when he was angry.

Whenever he touched something dirty—whenever he had no choice but to touch Abel—he washed his hands at least five times.

If he missed breakfast, he remained in a bad mood for the entire day.

Though Felix himself denied it, he became slightly kinder toward Abel after eating sweets.

Felix was ashamed of the meager amount of divine power he possessed.

‘Ah.’

Was that why Felix had left the prayer room like that yesterday?

Abel could not remember exactly when it had happened. It was probably not long after they had left the temple.

At the time, Abel had not yet taken any particular interest in Felix. So he had only half-listened, but now, from the haze of his memories, he managed to uncover a small fragment.

‘Now you can understand how I feel.’

Felix had mocked him, asking whether he finally understood what it felt like to be unable to heal even a single wound because of one’s feeble divine power.

Abel had denied it.

‘You assume wrong. It’s not that my divine power is weak. No, I don’t have any at all.’

Hmm. It didn’t seem like much conversation had followed after that. Felix had glared at him again, his eyes filled with anger.

Recovering a memory he had thought he had completely forgotten put him in a good mood. Remembering moments spent with the person he loved was such a pleasant and enjoyable thing.

He had plenty of time. It might be nice to go over the memories from the year he had spent with Felix.

If he did, perhaps more memories of Felix would come back to him. Memories he had completely forgotten, just like this one

While he was at it, it would be good to learn more about the present-day Felix as well. Abel still did not even know how old Felix was.

Nor did he understand why Gregory kept looking at him like that while mentioning an ‘unfortunate incident.’

“It would be best for Felix as well if he lived quietly within the temple, if possible.”

That sympathetic smile on Gregory’s face could not possibly be genuine. Gregory claimed it was not widely known, but Abel simply had not known because he had never cared. Clergymen of a certain rank would certainly have known that Felix was related to the Pope by blood.

Then why was Felix not treated well within the temple?

‘That man must have ordered it.’

There was a high chance that what Gregory had just said was exactly what he wanted for Felix.

Abel’s opinion of Gregory, who had been a useful partner despite his calculating nature, sank to rock bottom.

Would he have to remove the Pope for Felix to be able to live in the temple as he pleased?

Whether he knew what Abel was thinking or not, Gregory smiled bitterly.

“The rumors have only just begun to die down. It would not be good for Felix if related stories started circulating within the temple again.”

Though he spoke as if he were concerned for Felix, all of this was for Gregory’s sake.

“So, regrettably, might I ask you to withdraw your interest from Felix?”

And Gregory could not possibly think that Abel was incapable of understanding such simple calculations.

Even so, the reason he had brought it up like this was likely because he wanted to gauge just how much Abel cared for Felix.

‘Perfect.’

It was something that had to be done anyway. Hadn’t he promised Felix that he would resolve the matter?

He had been wondering if he would have to go through the troublesome process of gathering everyone together and making some sort of announcement, but this would do.

“Why should I?”

“Lord Abel.”

Abel cut Gregory off before he could continue trying to persuade him.

“I simply need to make it so that no one dares utter a single word about Felix. I don’t believe you think I lack that much power.”

“Indeed. You possess that power, Lord Abel. But would Felix truly want that?”

“Must I concern myself with what Felix wants?”

Abel declared arrogantly.

“I’ve already confessed that I love him, so Felix will gladly endure whatever rumors are directed at him.”
