Abel met those frost-cold blue eyes without looking away.

‘Felix.’

Unable to say his name aloud, he mouthed it silently.

His beauty was astonishing, as though every fine hair on his skin had been sculpted with painstaking care. But even more striking were the jewel-like eyes set within those brilliant yet pure features, glowing an icy blue as though they meant to tear Abel apart.

Felix, who hated him, despised him, looked upon him with contempt.

Were your eyes like this when you looked at me in those final moments that day?

Or had they looked at me this way through every moment we ever spent together?

Perhaps Felix had been right all along.

Maybe Abel’s taste really was strange.

He knew perfectly well how badly he had messed up.

He knew that if he failed to resolve this properly, Felix would never open his heart to him.

And yet, the quiet fury burning within Felix made his lips grow dry.

Because you are far too lovable.

Abel couldn’t bring himself to push Felix away.

The warmth of his body. The tongue that brushed over his lips before slipping inside.

The kiss was smoother than yesterday’s. At least their teeth didn’t collide this time.

Not that it meant Felix had suddenly become good at kissing….

From the very beginning, Abel was captivated by the eyes fixed intensely upon him.

Everything else faded into the background.

Their tongues intertwined, they shared each other’s breath, and their bodies remained pressed close enough for warmth to pass between them.

But beneath all of that, something even deeper reached him.

Yes.

What flowed from Felix was malice—thick, clinging, and viscous.

And Abel was unmistakably thrilled by it.

He wanted to examine that emotion more closely… from even nearer….

“Ah.”

His lower lip, which had only just healed from yesterday’s swelling, was bitten down on hard.

The sharp sting snapped him back to his senses. Judging by the metallic taste flooding his mouth, Felix had broken the skin.

With his own blood staining his lips, Abel hurriedly called out to Felix who was already pulling away.

“I was wrong.”

Regardless of the fact that Felix’s anger made Abel’s heart race and filled him with excitement, he couldn’t leave that anger unresolved.

How was one supposed to apologize again?

Well…

Abel had never learned how to apologize while living in the temple.

The closest thing to an apology he had ever witnessed was the art of refusing to admit fault while skillfully shifting the blame onto someone else.

The Father’s Herald might occasionally make mistakes.

But he never committed wrongdoing.

Abel had never needed to apologize.

Nor had he ever been allowed to.

Then what about when he wasn’t the Father’s Messenger—when he was simply Abel?

What had Felix taught him?

‘Did someone cut your tongue out? If you did something wrong, then apologize.’

‘You got hurt because your swordsmanship isn’t good enough.’

‘I got hurt because you wandered around flaunting that white hair of yours like an idiot.’

Having learned that one should apologize when one had done something wrong, Abel also remembered having his hair, once long enough to reach his hips, cut all the way to just below his ears as punishment for a mistake.

But he couldn’t remember how to apologize.

Had he dismissed it all back then, thinking that once he’d paid the price for his mistake, there was no need to apologize as well? Was that why he had never truly listened?

He didn’t know.

Have I gotten stupider? Or was it simply that his heart was pounding so loudly at the sight of Felix before him, overwhelmed by how lovable he was, that he couldn’t think straight?

In the end, Abel could only repeat the same foolish words.

“…I was wrong.”

I’m sorry.

Pouring as much sincerity into the words as he possibly could, Abel looked at Felix.

“So don’t do anything you don’t want to.”

But Abel’s apology failed to reach him at all.

“No. For today, at least, it was truly something I wanted to do.”

How did Abel know?

Because Felix smiled so sweetly it looked as though he might melt, and then asked:

“So, what score do I get today?”

…Huh?

“Were you satisfied this time?”
