“Don’t you feel sorry to me? How could you not feel sorry after running away with fifty million Rublangs! You knew that bankruptcy would be a joke with that kind of money!”

Asha poured out the words she had kept inside. However, Gale didn’t feel a shred of guilt. If he hadn’t been hit by Asha’s handbag, it was an arrogance that would have seen him flee without a second look. Gale, scanning Asha with a shameless face, burst into a sneer.

“…Do you even know why I ran away with the money?”

The low voice sounded as if he were hiding a massive secret.

“Ha! Didn’t you just run with it because the raw materials market was shaking and you were scared shitless of failing? Coward. Am I wrong?”

At her stinging words, he instead swallowed gasping laughter. His bloodshot blue eyes were directed straight at Gale in a way that showed how loathsome he found him. Her fists, clenched so tight they turned white, clearly displayed the anger Asha couldn’t express.

Fortunately, Gale, who stopped laughing before Asha’s patience ran out, opened his mouth as if granting her a favor.

“You’re right.”

“Why you—!”

The moment Asha, enraged by the maddeningly light affirmation, raised her fist, Gale asked.

“But… do you know your husband hid information?”

“What?”

Suddenly, Asha’s body stiffened. My husband, Harriet? This was even more nonsensical and absurd than when Beryl mentioned Harriet.

Seeing Asha’s reaction, Gale, thinking he had landed a decisive blow, didn’t hide his delight and cackled vulgarly. Gale, watching Asha who was dazed without even being able to ask in detail, eventually hit his head against the ground as if his strength had failed. After catching his breath for a moment, he opened his mouth again.

“Do you know your husband was hiding information behind your back, knowing perfectly well that the business would fail? How shocked do you think I was when I looked inside the drawer, f**k! Even I almost went completely broke! I’m the one who almost died because of your husband, and you were backstabbed by him too, so what’s wrong with what I did?”

From the gravelly voice to the swearing, there wasn’t a part of him that wasn’t threatening. Thinking he should take this momentum to crush Asha, Gale shook his body violently.

Heh, heheh. I landed a blow on the noble Countess of Bellstein!

Infatuated with the exhilarating fact, he continued speaking as if lecturing her with mockery. Asha’s expression, which was no longer visible, wasn’t important to him anymore. What mattered to him was the image of himself lecturing the Countess.

Now the noble Countess would run away in fear. Even if she pretended to be okay, she wouldn’t be able to hide her trembling hands. Gale let out an unpleasant laugh and scanned the surroundings to find an escape route.

“So?”

Asha, brushing back her brilliant blonde hair, asked back. Her low voice didn’t waver in the slightest. No, would it be more accurate to say she sounded indifferent? At any rate, contrary to Gale’s expectations, Asha seemed to have regained her composure.

“Even so, you’re the one who stole my money and ran.”

“…Anastasia Bellstein. You don’t understand? Chuckle, how naive. You probably don’t know because you live your life like a fool, but your husband is a madman. I’m telling you this because I pity you… do you know what’s under that old castle you live in?”

Heh, Gale let out a small laugh.

“It’s a basement. He even moved furniture in, as if he intends to lock you up. Puhaha!”

Gale, having spat everything out, laughed loudly, revealing his dirty teeth. It was a laugh that held no trace of noble dignity. Clouds flowed beneath the bright sun, and a shadow was cast in an instant. Gale closed his eyes as if satisfied. After a moment of silence, he spat out words intended to completely lacerate Asha.

“Anastasia. You were completely fooled by your husband.”

Gale, who was infatuated with his own words, raised his head to check Asha’s expression. The exhilaration of completely defeating the Countess of Bellstein pierced his lungs to the point that a hollow laugh broke out.

However, the moment his eyes met Asha’s, Gale’s relaxed expression stiffened at once.

The expression he had guessed for Asha was obvious. Either shedding tears at the fact that she was betrayed by her husband, or floundering in shock.

But surpassing all those expectations, Asha was still looking down at Gale with razor-sharp eyes.

“Are you done?”

“Huh?”

“I asked if you’re done.”

“Uh? Uh-huh.”

Am I dreaming? Gale, whose sense of reality became distant for a moment, nodded blankly. At the same time, Asha, flashing a grin, lifted her handbag.

Who was Anastasia Bellstein? The heretic of Halswein, the wild filly of the North. Would a crazy person talked about in the North shed tears over a few words from a scammer?

The diamond embedded in the handbag shone brilliantly. Gale unconsciously fixed his gaze on the sparkling diamond. Over his trembling gaze, an elegant voice descended lightly.

“Then, time to get beaten.”

Some people recalled this moment like this. That it was a historic fight where the hardness of a diamond was confirmed by a human head.

But predictably, the human head could not defeat the diamond.
